Position Summary
The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity is responsible for the coordination and development of student services and building the inclusive excellence of SDSU's staff and faculty at San Diego State University. Departments include, but not limited to, Assistant Deans for Student Affairs; Career Services; Center for Educational Opportunity Programs, Outreach and Success; Communications Services; Counseling and Psychological Services;; Student Financial Center; Military Veterans Program; New Student and Parent Programs; Office of the Student Ombudsman; Residential Education; Resource Management; Student Ability Success Center; Student Health Services; Student Life and Leadership; Student Rights and Responsibilities; Testing Services Office; Well-being & Health Promotion; Cultural and Identity Centers; and programming related to Inclusive Excellence.
Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity

The Department of Communication Services develops, coordinates, and executes communication efforts for the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity and its departments. Communications Services creates print, electronic and social media communications that supports the Division's mission and programs. The department also leads and supports more general student and family focused communications including internal and external communication, marketing, video, social media and other forms of digital communications, in collaboration with Strategic Communications and Public Affairs (StratComm).
Job Duties Include:
Under the direction of the Communication Services Director, supports the overall functioning of the Communication Services Department. This position will provide the necessary administrative coordination required to ensure smooth operations to effectively deliver quality communication services.
The incumbent must be able to work with general day-to-day direction, possess analytical and budgetary skills, be able to establish work priorities that will assure completion of projects in a timely fashion.
Work duties will require interaction with other staff within the program as well as the campus and community, and so requires superior oral and written communication skills. On occasion, weekend and evening work may be necessary.
Provides logistical and organizational support for professional learning events, projects and activities through creating and coordinating registrations, organizing materials and handouts, managing event/project calendars and processing paperwork for event/project expenditures.
Functions as the primary financial and budgetary resource through the production of financial reports, the coordination of department payroll activities, the coordination of department travel approval and reimbursement processes, the management of university accounts payable, procurement acquisition and the management of budgets for paperwork with SDSU Foundation.

Part-time (50%), temporary position expected to end on or before August 31, 2023, with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is physically located at the SDSU Main Campus in San Diego.
Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Experience working at SDSU
Developing relationships with key stakeholders
Experience with project management software such as IssueTrak, Service now, Trumba, and Asana
Experience with CMS systems such as OU/Modern Campus
Specialized Skills Required
Knowledge of the following software programs and university processes is required:
Oracle & Adaptive business software and university financial reporting policies
PeopleSoft and campus HR procedures
Must also have experience or has demonstrated commitment to serving underrepresented populations.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $1,720 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $1,720 - $2,819 per month.
SDSU Vaccine Policy
In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.
The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.
