Providing primary health care and education for the ECU student body, including preventative and medical care to students enrolled at ECU
Provide teaching and education regarding specific health conditions
Create an awareness of the general health of students and special services offered by SHS
Provide clinical supervision for the physician extenders, nursing, pharmacy, and laboratory personnel and their quality of work.

The Student Health Service of East Carolina University is a separate and distinct department within the Division of Student Affairs and is charged with the responsibility of providing primary health care for its student body.
