The Director of Student Affairs is responsible to plan, execute and evaluate a variety of operational, administrative, and curricular initiatives that student success and life balance in the Physician Assistant Online Program, which support the program's mission and values. The individual in this position will hold the rank of Assistant Professor Adjunct or Associate Professor Adjunct.
Essential Function
Support student success, oversee campus events and Immersion program planning, delivery, and scheduling, and ensure continuous improvement of programming over time. The Director also builds and maintains strong relationships with multiple stakeholders including students, Faculty advisors, university offices, members of the Yale School of Medicine, the broader Yale University community, and external agents.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative
Design, collaborate on, and implement complex program events (Orientation, Immersion, White Coat, and Graduation) and other virtual program activities (e.g., organizational skills, conflict resolution, leadership development) for student success and life balance. Oversee and manage budgets for events and programs. Conduct student surveys and evaluate the statistical data for service performance. Make recommendations for change and improvements.
Serve as a member of the Progress committee and Academic Affairs committee, contributes as an Admissions interviewer, and advise leadership on new initiatives and student concerns.
Participate in the planning and execution of a range of academic programs and services for students enrolled in the degree programs including communications, academic support, curricular support, and general academic experience.
Manage the student experience and collaborate with internal program groups such as Career Services, JEDI, and student success on information sharing and learning opportunities. Build relationships with external support to enhance the student experience.
Act as a student resource for support with Yale accessibility resources, while maintaining student confidentiality. Assign tutor support as recommended by faculty advisors. Oversee recruitment, training, and scheduling of tutors.
Provide guidance and programmatic support. Act as a resource for students and responsible for resolving student concerns related to the curricula, academic calendar, and all other academic related questions. Address academic concerns with students or triage and refer to senior staff for additional support.
Assist with website updates and social media. Manage the Student Affairs course and update to maintain accuracy and disseminate information.
Become familiar with resources available throughout Yale and New Haven that may offer support or be of special interest to our students when on campus.
Create and recommend new policies as needed, obtaining approval through the proper program and university channels.
Manage and monitor student attendance communicating both with students and faculty advisors.
Provide guidance and support to students for conference planning as needed and manage all logistics for student conferences.
Coordinate electronic communications to students and manage listservs.
Participate in the review of the mission statement.
Serve on committees as directed by the Program Director.
Analyze adherence to ARC-PA standards, strengths, and areas needing improvement.
Assist with the designing, coordinating, and evaluation of the program and curriculum.
Educational
Serves as a lecturer or small group facilitator and evaluator within the curriculum.
Develops appropriate teaching and evaluation materials.
Evaluates student performance within the curriculum.
Assists with curriculum development and review.
Clinical (If applicable)
Maintains clinical certification at the national level.
Maintains state licensure.
Maintains hospital privileges and credentials, if required.
Miscellaneous
Maintains a record of ongoing scholarly activity and faculty development.
Participates in community service activities.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Supervisor
Reports directly to the Program Director and supervises support staff, in coordination with the Associate Program Director.
