Position Summary
SDSU Imperial Valley is an integral division of SDSU located 120 miles east of the San Diego Campus. SDSU IV is administered by the Dean of the Campus, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, the Director for Business and Financial Services, and the Development and Community Relations Director. SDSU IV offers undergraduate education, credential programs for teacher preparation, and various Master's of Arts programs. There are approximately 1,000 students enrolled each semester. There are 19 full time faculty members, about 93 part-time faculty, and 42 staff members. The ten building complex at Calexico is open 12 months a year.
The Business Services office provides cashiering, payroll, health benefits, human resources, accounts payable and purchasing services to faculty, staff and students at the IV Campus. It is the primary building that provides general information and directs students and the community to campus departments.
Under direct supervision of the Imperial Valley Campus Administrator, the Administrative Assistant will support the Business Services office by working with medical providers to establish health services agreements, verify student's eligibility for medical referrals and complete appropriate documentation, assist students with immunizations immunization requirements and health services related requests, and assist with creating awareness of health programs available to students on campus.
The Administrative Assistant will support the Cashier's Office as needed in the day-to-day operations. The normal operations include cash verification, daily deposits documentation to San Diego, issue checks/paystubs according to procedure and answer general inquiries from students, faculty and staff.

This is a full-time, temporary position anticipated to end on or before one year from start date with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is physically located at SDSU Imperial Valley.
Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations; and typing and keyboard skills.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a higher education or public sector setting.
One year of progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,338 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,338 - $4,913 per month.
SDSU Vaccine Policy
In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of a two-shot vaccine or two weeks after the first dose of a single-shot vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.
The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.
