Position Summary:
The individual in this administrative role will be the first face that students meet for both the Office of Disability Services as well as the Office of Academic Support. This individual is able to triage student needs as they enter the office and direct them to the most appropriate support in a timely and efficient manner. This individual provides the day-to-day administrative support for both offices - including preparing files and documentation so that student needs are met quickly and professionally as well as processing student requests (books in an electronic format, enlargement of texts, accommodation letters etc.) as well as general support for both offices (ordering supplies, arranging for repairs etc.). As head proctor, this individual is responsible for securing exams, proctors and space as needed to ensure that the University remains in compliance with ensuring equal access for our students with documented disabilities. This person will have a working schedule from 12-8:30 to manage the evening exams that require proctoring due to accommodation requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
Coordinate and proctor all exams requiring non-standard administration as a result of disability related accommodations
Receive all requests for examinations from students with disabilities and their professors
Confirm exam details and determine the most appropriate manner for testing accommodations to be offered
Obtain exams from professor; ensure exam security, schedule exam with student, administrate the exam with accommodations including technology, time and space, review exam to ensure completion, again secure the exam and finally return exam to the professor
Frequent coordination with Dean's offices, students and professors
Check for breaches of test security before, during and after exam
Responsible for the protection of highly confidential and private documents by maintaining student records, inventory, logs and testing files
Help ensure the University's compliance with ADA regulations as determined by the supervisor
Schedule appointments and meetings with directors, coordinators and students
Make associated arrangements such as securing room, food, a/v equipment, etc.
Facilitate the day-to-day running of the office of disability services and academic support- maintaining calendars, filing, ordering office supplies etc.
Experience & Education Background:
High School Diploma required
A minimum of 3 year work experience
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Skills & Competencies:
Demonstrated technology skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, google docs, typing)
Excellent time management and organization skills are required
Ability to communicate effectively and deal directly with individuals and groups, both internal and external to the University, exercising good judgment
Good interpersonal skills, including ability to remain calm when dealing with situations which may involve dissatisfied students, parents or faculty
Use initiative in performing varied clerical duties requiring a knowledge and understanding of the organization, programs and procedures related to the work of the supervisor
Salary Range
$25 - $30 per hour
