Meets with students who present at the center requesting crisis services.
Determines appropriate level of care and follow-up services for students in crisis.
Assess safety issues and do safety planning as needed with students who initiate services.
Responds to phone calls and questions about CCSD services.
Works closely with front office staff regarding screening, scheduling and phone consultation.
Participates in after-hours emergency on-call rotation providing crisis assessment.
Provides consultation to faculty, parents, and other ECU Staff members regarding students of concern and provide information related to CCSD services.
Manages referrals into the community for students needing services other than those provided by CCSD.
Serves as liaison with local hospital for discharge planning following inpatient treatment.
Provides supportive counseling as needed.
Acts as liaison between CCSD and Vidant Medical Center (obtain medical records as well as assist with student hospitalizations).
Links students with campus and community resources.
Maintains tracking systems for clients identified by UBCT (University Behavioral Concerns Team) who are being seen at CCSD, clients who have been hospitalized, and clients of concern who are currently being seen at CCSD to prevent gaps in services.
Works with the Dean of Students case managers for continuity of care for identified students.
Maintains records of off campus referral sources.
Consults with Student Health Services psychiatry staff for coordination of care for students.
Provides consultation to CCSD staff members on medical withdrawal information and procedures.
Coordinates documentation being sent to DOS for verification of students' attendance at CCSD for withdrawal applications.
Carries out administrative duties and other duties as assigned by the Director.
Plans, conducts and evaluates outreach programs and services designed to facilitate student development and work cooperatively with university colleagues in developing and implementing quality programs.
Participates in ongoing evaluative procedures of Center programs and services.
Participates in ongoing professional development through in-service education programs conducted in the center, on campus, and/or professional organizations.
Provides in-class instruction through outreach presentations and, when requested and possible, teaches college adjustment courses.
Other duties as assigned.

The Center for Counseling and Student Development is part of the Division of Student Affairs and is the primary counseling center for the ECU student community. The Center for Counseling and Student Development is staffed by generalists who work well as part of a multidisciplinary team. The Center for Counseling and Student Development provides counseling services to enrolled students. Common reasons students seek counseling services include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, alcohol and other drug concerns, adjustment and trauma. Services include: individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, consultation, collegiate recovery support and workshops/outreach.
