Staff Clinician/Interpersonal Violence Specialist, Health Education Services - Office of Student Affairs - Georgetown University

Embodying Georgetown's core value of cura personalis (care for the whole person),) Health Education Services (HES) supports student well-being and creates healthy learning environments for individuals and the community by providing health education and caring for the WHOLE Hoya - body, mind, and soul. HES seeks to empower students to take responsibility for decisions regarding their health as well as actively tries to increase community identification of students at risk. Housed within our Division of Student Affairs, the Sexual Assault Response & Prevention (SARP) team has clinicians whose area of expertise is working with and assisting survivors of interpersonal violence.

Job Overview

The Staff Clinician/Interpersonal Violence Specialist, a member of the SARP team, works directly with students to provide clinical services and advocacy in response to interpersonal violence, including sexual assault/harassment/stalking; and provides education, training and programming for complex student situations in undergraduate and graduate student populations.

They work collaboratively with other SARP team members, as well as with the University's Title IX, Office of Student Conduct, CAPS, LGBTQ Resource Center, Women's Center, Center for Multicultural Equity and Access, Athletics, Georgetown Scholars Program and other campus departments to raise awareness, train, and collaboratively develop and implement programs and services that focus on diverse student populations and increase accessibility and availability.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Director of SARP, the Staff Clinician/ Interpersonal Violence Specialist interacts with professional staff on the SARP team, as well as the Interpersonal Violence Education and Training Specialist.

They also have ongoing interactions with health professionals, the deans' offices, and campus partners regarding disability, conduct, residential living, identity centers, faculty, and student outreach and support.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree or above - including MSW/MPH, PhD
  • Licensed health professional - including LPC, RN, LCSW
  • Expertise and experience treating trauma and responding to issue of interpersonal violence, especially in marginalized populations, including but not limited to BIPOC and LGBTQ students and students with disabilities
  • Expertise and experience working with diverse student populations and students with history of complex trauma, including interpersonal violence, sexual assault/relationship violence
  • Experience in developing and implementing outreach programs to diverse student populations
  • Commitment to an anti-oppression framework and to providing culturally inclusive services


Preferred qualifications
  • Strong generalist skills for working with the university student population across the spectrum of developmental and mental health issues
  • Expertise in understanding the impact of racial trauma
