Advises prospective and current Veteran students and family members on academic and career development matters, through individual meetings, orientation, workshops, small group sessions, and seminars.
Assist with registration with Veterans for courses required for degree completion.
Process certification documents for Veterans and family members through the use of Veteran's administration software programs.
Perform activities associated with the administration of Veterans educational benefits and Workforce Consortium Veterans' scholarships.
Monitor students' academic progress using prescribed procedures, recommending necessary services to remedy academic deficiencies; implementing intrusive counseling strategies aimed at retaining students, facilitating graduation and enabling transfer.
Make referrals to external agencies for Veterans' mental health and life counseling.
Participate in various retention initiatives for Veterans.
Perform outreach to Veteran organizations and military discharge centers to promote the Veterans program and the College.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree or equivalent preferred.
Computer literacy; ability to understand software functionality and convey understanding to others.
Experience with Veterans educational issues.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Friendly, patient, resourceful, honest, committed to equality.
Ability to work with a diverse population.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Valid Driver's license, insurance and personal vehicle required.
