The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

Position is in the Student Research unit of the Office of Medical Education at the College of Physicians and Surgeons. The position reports directly to the Director of Student Research, the Director of the Scholarly Projects Program and the Associate Dean of Student Research. The position will also have indirect reporting responsibility to the Scholarly Projects Track Directors. 

The Director of Student Research will administratively supervise the position. 


Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Director of Student Research and Associate Dean for Student Research to plan all aspects of cyclical events and curriculum, including
    • Medical Scholars Seminar Course
    • Research at VP&S (RAPS) Seminars
    • Dean???s Student Research Day
    • Dean???s Research Fellowship Program
    • MD/MS Research Symposium
    • Scholarly Project Program (SPP)
  • Understands timelines and requirements and serves as a point of contact for students, research mentors, faculty, and staff for VP&S research program related inquiries.
  • Liaises with all levels of leadership, mentors and administrative staff across schools and departments, including the University registrar and student finance.
  • Manages the application and approval processes for the MD/MS dual-degree program, SPP and non-clinical electives.
  • Manages and tracks student research funding, including payments for seminar expenses, mentor stipends and student research reimbursements.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Dean of Student Research and the Student Research team to support curriculum planning, policy and administration.
  • Coordinates student research courses and seminar planning, including classroom reservations and AV needs, placing orders, weekly communications, course evaluations, student registration, progress and evaluations and maintaining courseworks resources.
  • Works with the chair of the Scholarly Program Project and MD/MS Advisory committees to schedule meetings, set agenda, coordinate communication and record minutes. Coordinator will be the conduit for information flow back to the student research administrative team.
  • Supports the Director of the Scholarly Projects Program, including planning and co-facilitating monthly orientations, biannual MP sessions, and Student affairs presentations, monthly SP registration and project progress tracking, and the Friedman awards process.
  • Collaborates with the Electives Coordinator and Director of Curricular Affairs on the SPP graduation requirement in the spring; supports seasonal coordination of international/global exchanges.
  • In collaboration with Associate Dean for Research and Director of Student Research, maintains relevant sections of the VP&S Medical Education website, the UserVoice Student KnowledgeBase, OASIS and CourseWorks.
  • As necessary, works on events with the administrative and leadership team in Office of Medical Education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned as related to Office of Medical Education, VP&S to aid in promoting the mission of medical education.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with database management 
  • Advanced Excel skills 
  •  

Other Requirements

  • Experience in supporting the administrative needs of individuals in non-profits and/or academia 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle student information with good judgment 
  • Ability to undertake multiple tasks, set priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines
