Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Multicultural Student Affairs is responsible for implementing programming that enhances the student experience at UNC Asheville. This employee facilitates students' exploration of their individual and collective cultural identities by developing social and educational learning opportunities throughout the year. The employee is responsible for all student engagement efforts from the Office of Multicultural Affairs, including coordinating the Sankofa Residential Living Community and LEGACY Mentorship Programs, various heritage month events, cultural graduate recognition ceremonies, and supervising student employees in the department.

Additionally, the Assistant Director will work collaboratively with campus partners to produce various co-curricular events and workshops that increase and expand the cultural humility of the UNC Asheville community.

Minimum Education/Experience/Skill :

Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Cultural Studies, or equivalent. Experience working in a functional area within student affairs (i.e. multicultural programs/affairs, residence life, student activities, etc.).

Preferred Education/Experience/Skill :

Prefer 1-2 years of experience in multicultural programming. Experience working with multicultural student organizations. Adept at working with various forms of social media and technology to connect with students.
