Reporting directly to the Dean of Graduate Studies, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs participates in leadership and management of the Graduate College with a focus on student support and managing the implementation of assigned projects to meet the dynamic needs of graduate students throughout and subsequent to their matriculation at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical (N.C. A&T) State University. The Assistant Dean integrates all aspects of the Graduate School's processes to increase customer satisfaction including the implementation and evaluation of effective student-centered professional development opportunities, trainings, and other strategies to improve student retention and graduation. The Assistant Dean provides highly effective data analysis to drive decisions supporting student support services; participates in the overall student experience strategy; achieves student engagement goals and implements strategies to grow the current portfolio; develops productive partnerships with internal school/college-wide departments, develops productive partnerships with external stakeholders; and utilizes technology to establish and maintain best practices and increase enrollment through engagement of loyal graduate student alumni. The Assistant Dean will also ensure that appropriate faculty, staff, and other necessary resources are in place to provide and assess effective services to students on matters which enhance academic achievement and overall graduate student success. This person will provide oversight for all graduate student organizations. In addition, the Assistant Dean will work closely with the Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School to ensure that the strategic initiatives of the unit are being successfully implemented.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The mission of the Graduate College at North Carolina A&T State University is to expand the capacity of graduate programs and to promote excellence in graduate education. The Graduate College advances the university's vision, mission, and strategic plan by enhancing graduate research, scholarship, and creative activity; to elevate and expand research and scholarship. It promotes the scholarship of discovery, integration, and application via graduate student research; oversees and implements graduate recruitment initiatives, curricular initiatives, program assessment, budget, and funding allocations to advance and elevate graduate programs. The Graduate College also administers policies and regulations affecting graduate students, including complaints and grievances; assists with efforts to facilitate a positive campus culture for graduate students; and assists the Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness with accreditation, program review, and graduate student data management and analysis.

Requirements:
· Doctoral Degree or terminal degree in academic field.
· Demonstrated record of excellence in graduate admissions, student support services, graduate student experience, and student success.
· Experience working with student information systems, such as Banner, as well as strong computer literacy and familiarity and comfort with spreadsheets and databases.
· Strong customer service/student service skills in a fast-paced, changing environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Admission Pros or Slate, and social media platforms.
· Demonstrated effectiveness in leading the development and delivery of innovative academic programs and support services.
· Demonstrated success in developing and implementing graduate-level programs at colleges or universities.
· Demonstrated success in program planning, budget development, strategic planning, team building and marketing.

Doctoral Degree with 5 or more years experience in graduate admissions, student support services, graduate student experience, and student success.
