Learners are increasingly looking for ways to demonstrate and share their ongoing upskilling and learning with colleagues and prospective employers. Many courses that facilitate this ongoing learning fall outside of a traditional certificate or degree program. Digital credentials fill this niche by providing tangible evidence of ongoing learning, backed and legitimized by the issuing institution and associated earning criteria. These credentials can be shared broadly across social media platforms and collected in digital wallets.
The Digital Credentials Specialist is responsible for managing and scaling our growing inventory of digital credentials and working with staff to develop new credentials across the broad range of Continuum College programs. The qualified candidate is experienced and comfortable with creating and owning new processes from the ground up, is familiar with learning assessment and competency development, is highly collaborative, and has a strong desire to innovate.
Develop standardized processes for intake, development, tracking, implementation, communication, review, and updating of digital credentials
Track and manage the digital credential development processes throughout the development cycle providing regular communication with relevant stakeholders
Advocate for best practices around application, implementation, and communication, including creating documentation and guides for staff, faculty, and students
Work with Instructor Development on training and development for instructors and staff around digital credentials and learning assessment
Partner with Program Managers, Learning Designers, and Instructor Development staff to develop skills-based credentials for individual courses and programs, including robust assessments of student learning
Collaborate with Continuum College partners to develop credential schemas for conferences, youth and teen programs, professional development, and academic programs
Lead efforts to badge internal Continuum College staff competencies for professional development and make pathways into roles more visible
Work with the Learning Technologies and Marketing teams to build and implement digital credentials in our digital badge repository (currently Canvas Badges), including creating unique badge graphics
Manage existing credentials, helping teams adapt them to updated standards and methods as needed
Organize and manage issuing criteria, evidence, and skills alignments for all Continuum College digital credentials
Work with relevant teams to regularly review credentials for alignment with course and program outcomes
Ensure proper integration and function of issuing and claiming digital credentials, with an emphasis on automation
Ensure robust quality across the entire portfolio of digital credentials
Provide related support to staff, faculty, and students
Stay up to date on digital credential-related trends, conferences, and peer-reviewed literature
Propose and implement new credentialing approaches and/or projects
Work closely with Learning Technologies colleagues to incorporate digital credentialing into learning stack of supported technologies, including cross training
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
Bachelor's degree in education, learning design, or related field plus 2 years experience:
Expertise in collaboratively creating and managing new processes
Expertise in tracking multiple projects, with an emphasis on maintaining consistent quality
Working knowledge of learning assessment and competency development
Working knowledge of digital credential management systems
Working knowledge of learning management systems (Canvas LMS and Badges a plus)
