Job Details and Requirement:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

The Senior Director of Institutional Research and Assessment provide support to the Director of Institutional Research and Assessment by conducting applied educational research that produces accurate, useful, and timely information for distribution both to constituencies within the College and to external organizations. The Senior Research Analyst will work with stakeholders across campus to support accreditation, planning, and review efforts.                           

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Under the guidance of the Director of Institutional Research and Assessment, collect, manage, and analyze data from all sectors of the College to support institutional research, planning, assessment, and accreditation.
  • Assist with the submission of data to external organizations and analyze data received from those organizations. Meet federal and state reporting requirements.
  • Compile and publish longitudinal and comparative data about the College.
  • Conduct survey research, using survey instruments developed elsewhere and locally designed. Serve as a consultant to field groups and offices in the development and implementation of surveys.
  • Present findings in various formats, such as presentations and succinct written reports. Develop, maintain, and archive institutional data on the College webpage and intranet site. Compile data and useful benchmarks for the institutional Dashboard.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with other College offices, especially the Dean of Faculty Office, Office of Student Affairs. Registrar’s Office and the Office of Admission, to develop and disseminate shared data.
  • Assists College efforts to disseminate institutional data to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Assist with data literacy training and other data-related professional development strategies for a diverse campus community effort to disseminate institutional data to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Keep up-to-date on best practices on institutional research and assessment, including research instruments.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

The individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Proficiency with social science research methodologies and statistics.  Experience conducting applied educational and institutional research.
  • Ability to conduct research using a wide variety of research methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative (e.g. surveys, interviews, focus groups, data analysis, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Jenzabar CX data management system, Cognos, and other data visualization reporting tools are highly desirable
  • Analyze data using appropriate statistical techniques and software (e.g., SPSS or R).
  • Work with large complex databases, including querying data from relational database and writing queries using SQL preferred.
  • Advanced experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and  create effective reports and presentations.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced academic environment.
  • Competence with and commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment that values diverse experiences and perspectives; ability to effectively collaborate with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships, professional rapport, and effectively accomplish work within a College setting that includes a wide array of individuals, groups, policies, and processes.
  • Project management skills and the ability to consistently handle and follow through with multiple concurrent tasks and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a close attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially in translating data for various audiences, including faculty and other academic collaborators.

 

 

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is required. Minimum of two years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree is preferred in related fields of research and evaluation, including coursework in statistics. Preference may be given to candidates with a Master’s degree and coursework in statistics. Experience conducting research and statistical analysis in higher education or a related sector preferred.

 

Licenses/Certifications:  Must have valid driver’s license and a driving record insurable under the College’s General Liability policy. Must be able to drive self to/from nearby off campus locations.

 

Supervisory Responsibility: None.

 

Work Model:  This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week for 12 months per year. The regular hours for this position will be scheduled between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  These hours may vary due to needs of the College or department.

 

Anticipated Starting Rate: $30.00 per hour

  • Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity
