The Associate Director of the CSDC oversees all aspects of clinical service provision within the CSDC, and serves, along with the Director, as the CSDC Leadership Team. The Associate Director engages in strategic planning to inform the provision of high quality clinical services with a focus on inclusivity and best practices in the context of a liberal arts, residential, co-curricular institution. The Associate Director provides executive direction for the CSDC in the absence of the Director.
We seek candidates who understand the impact that experiences of marginalization, inequality, and prejudice can have on students, and are experienced in providing therapy, consultation, and outreach to address, and/or diminish this impact. The successful candidate will be an experienced generalist psychologist, counselor or social worker with demonstrated multicultural competence.

The CSDC serves as the primary mental health unit for the Bucknell University campus community. The CSDC is a well-resourced staff of 10 psychologists/counselors and 1 consulting psychiatrist with a strong and intentional commitment to promoting psychological well-being and inclusive community.

Job Duties:
1. Provide direction and coordination for the center's clinical services, including assessment, individual and group counseling, referral, consultation, and crisis intervention.
2. Develop, maintain, and monitor the infrastructure for the center's clinical system (e.g. developing coverage schedules, managing EHR (Titanium)).
3. Evaluate and monitor clinical services provided by the CSDC, including maintaining/updating the Policies and Procedures Manual.
4. Develop the staff after hours on-call schedule and coordinate follow-up for after-hour calls.
5. Provide clinical supervision to Staff Psychologists or Staff Counselors seeking licensure. Support the Director in the administrative supervision of all staff, including Office Assistants.
6. Support the Director in ensuring full compliance with mental health ethical standards, including maintaining confidential client records, data and all PA Licensure requirements.
7. Manage the Counseling Center's electronic record system (Titanium), including maintaining the accurate collection of records and statistics to provide information for decision-making and feedback to staff and university partners and quality assurance of documentation.
8. Oversee the CSDC's participation in the Center for Collegiate Mental Health data collection, including IRB compliance.
9. Engage in need and service outcome assessment to support the effectiveness of clinical services
10. Foster strong professional relationships with local mental health providers for referral and networking.
11. Serve on Divisional and University committees as appropriate.
12. Build multicultural competency by intentionally supporting an inclusive climate within the CSDC, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Bucknell University community.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
14. In the absence of the Director, the Associate Director will supervise all operations of the CSDC.

In addition to leadership responsibilities outlined above, the Associate Director will engage in direct service as outlined below:
1. Provide comprehensive clinical assessment for students; triage clinical needs and make recommendations based on clinical judgment and available resources.
2. Provide individual therapy to students with presenting issues including, but not limited to: trauma, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, grief, loneliness/isolation, identity development, family conflict, career exploration, attention/focus issues, stress management, chronic suicidal thoughts, and relationship issues.
3. Manage urgent mental health needs during same-day appointments (e.g., suicide risk assessment, evaluation of ability to care for self, evaluation of risk to campus community).
4. Complete risk assessment when clinically indicated during course of treatment and identify appropriate interventions for students in crisis.
5. Provide clinical assessments of students in a mental health crisis demonstrating effective clinical skills and effective treatment planning for a variety of mental health concerns and conditions, with varying levels of severity.
6. Respond to mental health emergencies in a culturally responsive manner to support students in a framework and manner that acknowledges their unique and intersecting personal and cultural identities.
7. Identify appropriate interventions for students in crisis, working effectively with the staff of the UCC to access appropriate resources, and engaging campus partners effectively to develop an effective plan for supporting students.
8. Provide 24/7 on-call coverage for urgent mental health needs as a part of the center's after hours crisis management system.
9. Evaluate the need for psychiatric evaluation and facilitate referral.
10. Coordinate care with off-campus providers including primary care physicians and mental health providers.
11. Consult with university staff, faculty, students, family members and other university professionals to support student's health and safety.
12. Maintain current and accurate information about local resources and refer students to campus (e.g., career services, student health, etc.) and off campus (e.g., community mental health programs, community clinicians) resources as needed.
13. Provide services consistent with professional ethical standards and generally accepted standards of practice.
14. Develop, implement and evaluate community intervention programs/outreach services that: a) help prevent problems, b) educate students, staff and faculty about mental health/psychological issues and wellness, and c) teach skills for self-care and community health and safety.
15. Participate in the planning of effective and innovative intervention and skill development programs for students based on knowledge and awareness of emergent campus mental health trends and needs.
16. Actively participate in weekly Staff and Case Conference meetings.
17. Maintain appropriate and timely documentation for recordkeeping and communication with other service providers based on ethical and legal standards and requirements to enhance care for students.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. An earned doctorate in clinical mental health counseling or psychology (APA accredited program and pre-doctoral internship). Minimum four years experience in a demanding clinical setting (e.g., college counseling center), with evidence of increasing administrative responsibility (e.g., policy writing, clinical supervision, oversight of clinical service model). OR Master's level degree in clinical mental health counseling, psychology or Social Work. Minimum six years experience in a demanding clinical setting (e.g., college counseling center), with evidence of increasing administrative responsibility (e.g., policy writing, clinical supervision, oversight of clinical service model).
2. Licensed as a psychologist, LCSW, or LPC for at least 5 years in the state of Pennsylvania.
3. Knowledge of developmental issues of college students and demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
4. Effective therapist with generalist clinical skills and demonstrated experience assessing and intervening with a range of clinical issues, degrees of pathology, and crisis management.
5. Well-developed clinical supervision skills.
6. Strong organizational skills.
7. Strong interpersonal skills, including strong oral, written, and listening communication capabilities.
8. Strong commitment to student growth and development

Work Type:
This is a full-time, year round, benefits eligible position.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.

Salary Range:
This is a Staff Exempt position with a hiring range of $70,500 - 88,125. The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
