Columbia Basin College (CBC) seeks a Financial Aid Outreach Assistant Manager to represent Columbia Basin College in financial aid outreach efforts in the K-12 system and the community for the purposes of increasing completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Washington Application for State Financial Aid completion rates. This is a pilot program and under a state outreach and completion initiative with state funding to support the work performed by this position and other outreach specialists employed by CBC. This position will primarily work with the high schools and with high school students, their families and school staff to support application completion for federal and state financial aid. This position is responsible for the managerial oversight of the Financial Aid Outreach Specialists positions. The position will be also be responsible for presenting informational and program workshops for promotion of financial aid awareness in general, as well as program workshops on scholarships, and understanding the financial aid cycle. The position will work both in the assigned high school and on the CBC campus, as well engaging in various activities, including classroom visitation, presentations, workshops and other K-12 special activities, as well as community events. This position reports to the Director for Student Recruitment.

Primary Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of a financial outreach plan for the K-12 system that includes state and federal financial aid, scholarships, and financial literacy;
Manage seven (7) full-time Financial Aid Outreach positions to ensure they are performing the duties assigned;
Responsible for the creation of annual work plan and ensuring the department is achieving work plan objectives;
Represent CBC by interpreting and communicating complex financial aid, waiver and scholarship information in easy-to-understand language to prospective college students and their families;
Provide individual counsel and advice to students and/or parents in person, through email and over the phone, related to the full process of applying for, receiving and utilizing financial aid and scholarships;
Develop and present inclusive and accessible information financial aid sessions for various in-person, hybrid, and virtual-only recruitment and outreach efforts. Identify creative and innovative ways to reach students and families, with special attention to reaching historically underserved communities and first-generation college students;
Engage in other outreach as appropriate with students and families, announcements on school intercoms and social medial channels, outreach to recent high school graduates as peer messengers, and events at school, college or career fairs;
Partner with high school personnel to create meaningful and effective communication and marketing content as part of a service-based recruitment programming in the high schools; this involves having a thorough knowledge of federal financial aid policies related to Title IV and solid understanding of available resources;
Utilize data maintained by the student achievement council to conduct targeted outreach to high school students;
Interface and collaborate with K-12 administration, counselors, instructors, school district principals, specialized staff and support staff as necessary and appropriate to ensure a coordinated financial aid outreach effort;
Collaborate with CBC program department leads and faculty to support and facilitate coordinated activities;
Track students served, collect, analyze, and report on data related to financial aid objectives;
Participate in regular staff meetings to maintain current information to share with participants, and to plan financial aid outreach events;
Complete monthly outreach and recruitment reports;
Completes assigned special projects and/or program responsibilities based on operational necessity and individual experience and skills;
Participate in professional development to stay current in professional field; and
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree from an institutionally accredited college or university;
One (1) consecutive year of experience in student services or related education experience;
Demonstrated experience working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds;
Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while being attentive to details;
Highly motivated, self-starter, flexible and adaptable;
Developed skill in written and verbal communication including experience with large group presentations/training;
Familiarity with electronic technology and media and demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office and Internet research tools; and
Must have or be able to obtain at the time of hire, a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
Demonstrated experience developing strong collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, parents and external constituencies;
Demonstrated knowledge of college recruitment strategies for underserved students including low income, first-generation, students of color, and students whose primary language is not English; and
Columbia Basin College (CBC) serves the citizens of Benton and Franklin counties in Washington state with two-year associate degrees for transfer to a four-year university, and applied degrees for workforce employment. CBC also provides one-year certificates and basic skills for those pursuing a GED or high school diploma.
