SUNY New Paltz invites applications for the position of Associate Director, Intercultural Student Engagment and Leadership. This position serves students as part of the Center for Student Engagment in the division of Student Affairs. The Center for Student Engagement provides services including orientation and transition programs, leadership development and student activities, fraternity and sorority support, student union building operations, and community and civic engagement. The succesful candidate is expected to provide holistic and culturally responsive support, counseling, and advisement to individual students of various ethnic backgrounds as well as to cultural/ethnic interest student organizations. The Associate Director would supervise the Coordinator of Community and Civic Engagement as well as the Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life. This position offers the opportunity to create and manage programs, events, activities, and sustained learning experiences that transform campus culture and the ability to work collaboratively with dynamic colleagues within and beyond this team who are committed to a vibrant student life program that engages students across campus.
The successful candidate is expected to work nights and weekends in the form of rotational office coverage and assigned programming as well as to support general operational and departmental program needs.
Duties include:
Supervise the operations and programs for the Multicultural Resource Center
Provide consultation, guidance, and/or training for student leaders on DEIJAB trends and concerns. This population includes but is not limited to Resident Assistants, Orientation Leaders, Student Association executive board, Senator, student organization leaders, etc.(MRC)
Collaborate with and among a network of programs across the institution designed to support students from diverse backgrounds, including the Scholars' Mentorship Program (SMP), AMP & CSTEP Community (AC2), New Paltz Athletes of Color (NPAC), Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), and others
Along with the Director for Student Engagement and Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life, manage the adjudication process of all FSL conduct violations.
Serve as an investigator for all FSL conduct violations and assist in the training of the FSL Hearing Panel and train the FSL Hearing Panel
Assist with the planning and execution of the annual training of all student organizations and clubs as part of Student Organization Leaders' Summit and orientation
Assist in the consultation, review, and approval of student club events
Assist in the management of the student engagement/student organizations and clubs platform ( Anthology Engage)
Serve on the Student Affairs committees, working groups and other committees as part of service to the college.
Qualifications:
Required
· Bachelor's degree in related field and/or a minimum of three years of direct relevant experience
· Current and extensive knowledge in the field of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, access, belonging, and cultural competency
· Thorough knowledge of and experience with trainings, conflict resolution, and mediation methods
· Experience working in a leadership or supervisory position
· Strong organizational ability, interpersonal skills, strategic and analytical skills
· Ability to conceptualize, organize, and coordinate programs
Preferred
· Master's degree in related field with experience in student activities, student engagement, DEI, and/or student personnel
· Thorough knowledge of and experience with federal and state laws, including but not limited to Title VI, Title IX, Title VII, ADEA, and ADA
· Experience with Anthology Engage software platform
· Ability to work within a dynamic environment and a proven competence in managing multiple tasks and competing priorities
