Illinois Wesleyan University invites applicants for Director of Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS).  This position provides vision and leadership for the mental health services and policies consistent with the University’s residential mission.  This is a full time (10.5 months/year), on-campus position.  Generous benefits include health, retirement, considerable time off and access to multiple tuition programs for self and dependents.

Responsibilities:

• Provides direct professional mental health counseling to college students; assesses mental health status and provides quality short-term interventions that address a wide range of clinical issues; provides individual and group counseling, crisis intervention and management, consultation and referral; makes director level decisions regarding student mental health, in consultation with individual counselors
• Clinical supervision and administrative management; recruits, selects, trains, mentors and evaluates a diverse professional staff in CCS with a critical eye to serving a diverse student body, provides clinical supervision regarding individual student issues and response; maintains budgetary authority and oversight; leads departmental assessment efforts; provides annual reports, use and outcomes data; participates in on-call crisis response; models and supports cultural competence in counseling, supervision and outreach programs.
• Provides leadership and direction of CCS on campus; researches, develops, collaborates, and advocates for a strong mental health outreach program that reflects knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion; supports both individual students and the broad student experience regarding mental health; collaborates with academic, athletics, fraternity and sorority life, diversity and inclusion, student affairs and other colleagues regarding mental health policies, protocols and programs.  

Requirements: 

• Master’s degree in related field (counseling, psychology, social work, or related field that allows for clinical supervision) required; PhD preferred.  
• Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) Illinois, Licensed Professional Counselor (LCP) Illinois, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Illinois upon hire
• A minimum of eight years of related experience; experience serving college aged students is strongly preferred.
• Must live within 30 miles to Bloomington, IL for on-call emergency response (approximately 4-6 weeks/year).
