The Director of Residential Life for Residential & Auxiliary Services leads the vision, development, and implementation of the student experience and student development initiatives within the residence halls. Northwest’s Strategic plan focuses on student engagement and learning in and outside of the classroom, the co-curricular experience, and developing career-ready students. This position plays a key role in developing these initiatives within the residence halls.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide vision and leadership in developing an excellent student experience that includes a strong sense of belonging in a diverse community, using innovative residential community experiences that contribute to student success.
Leads vision, development, and assessment of the student experience for first-year, sophomore, upper-class, special populations, and living-learning communities to facilitate a sense of belonging, learning, and development by a diverse residential population in collaboration with departments across campus, such as the Office of Student Involvement, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Recreation, Title IX and Equity Office, Career Services, Admissions, Student Success Center, Wellness Services, University Police, etc.
Works collaboratively with the Student Affairs division and other university stakeholders to foster campus-wide engagement for residential students and help meet divisional strategic goals.
Works in collaboration with the Operations and Auxiliary side of Residential & Auxiliary Services to implement processes and services within the halls for 2000 residents.
Oversees RHA (Residence Hall Association) and NRHH (National Residence Hall Honorary) in collaboration with department coordinators to ensure a comprehensive leadership experience utilizing Student Affairs resources.
Oversees training and selection processes for student and professional staff in collaboration with department leads.
Leads an environment focused on inclusive programming, policies, practices, and development.
Directly supervises, mentors, develops, and evaluates two coordinators.
Oversees the selection, supervision, and training of full-time resident directors and approximately 60 paraprofessional staff members and 50 students.
Oversees judicial processes, including training of staff on the educational conduct process.
Works in collaboration with supervisor to provide department representation on Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT).
Works in collaboration with student support offices, including University Police and Wellness Services, to provide support for students.
Oversees several departmental budgets.
Responsible for staff evaluation process and student staff discipline process in collaboration with team members
Works in collaboration with the AVP on assessment, department goals, and Student Affairs divisional goals,
Serves on duty coverage for all halls in rotation with the Leads team.
Assists with crisis and student mental health issues, leading area as needed.

Preferred - 6 or more years of progressive full-time Residential Life Experience, experience with training others, supervision, leading the vision and development of student experiences, assessment, goal setting and accomplishment, collaboration with offices across campus, advising student organizations, experience with academic learning communities and a sophomore experience.
