USC Provost IT is seeking a Cloud Applications Developer to join our growing team. This position will be a key member of an innovative and customer-focused department responsible for creating and maintaining modern IT systems, technologies, infrastructure, and applications. It will be responsible for helping architect, implement and maintain cloud applications, databases, digital workflow platforms, and other large-scale enterprise systems.
The Work
You will work on the design, development and maintenance of various cloud and digital workflow and database applications, such as ServiceNow and Salesforce, to modernize and create key University applications. These include applications for the executive offices of the University, including the Office of the Provost and President, Human Resources, Equity & Compliance, Student Affairs, Enrollment Services, Academic Affairs, and numerous other departments, offices, and divisions.
You will bring skills in software engineering and business analysis to create modern digital solutions for our client groups. Whether creating a database application to manage campuswide research funding, architecting a compliance system to track misconduct, implementing systems to improve student retention and success, or adding enhancements to an IT service desk tool, you will primarily use platforms such as ServiceNow and Salesforce to build, configure and maintain applications to modernize and meet business process needs.
Youâll also work closely other IT team members to understand the technical needs and business processes of our client groups, gathering information from multiple sources and creating plans to implement new digital workflows or applications for them. As part of this work, you will also collaborate with fellow technical staff members to select the right core platform or tools necessary, as well as work with the same team to implement data feeds or integrations with other systems as needed.
You will also be responsible for developing reports and helping clients find new ways to gain insight from the data they store in their applications. You will also provide ongoing support for various cloud applications and systems, completing tasks such as user permission adjustments, routine upgrades and patches, and technical support or troubleshooting requests.
You will also evaluate new features and capabilities of underlying platforms to make sure that existing applications continue to meet a clientâs business needs over time, with a watchful eye towards continual process improvement. This includes assessing how feature changes affect existing processes and making sure systems and their data perform well and stay secure.

About Our Team
USC Provost IT is the information technology services department of the USC Office of the Provost. We provide various IT services, including infrastructure and application services, technical support, and software engineering and cloud applications, to nearly 100 University divisions, departments, and offices. We take pride in partnering with business and academic units to deliver reliable, effective, and secure information technology solutions which empower users and improve business processes, redefining how IT is delivered within higher education.

Other Job Accountabilities
Configures and develops business rules, workflows, user interface actions, notifications, functionality in cloud platforms such as ServiceNow and Salesforce
Performs routine administration of cloud platforms such as ServiceNow and/or Salesforce, including building and customizing forms, view, settings, processes, and permissions
Develops new configurations and customizations for cloud platforms such as ServiceNow and/or Salesforce, including the building out of custom functionality and the configuration and customization of existing platform modules
Customizes and modifies existing modules and functionality in platforms such as ServiceNow and/or Salesforce, writing code when appropriate
Performs platform troubleshooting when appropriate to identify and resolve technical problems when they occur
Assists with security governance, policies, and overall university compliance by embedding standards, procedures, and quality analysis measures into workflows/plans. Identifies and communicates system issues, bugs, and fixes, and aids the initiation of process-improvement efforts
Provides customer-focused solutions, and builds and maintains effective customer relationships through timely follow-ups and efficient, effective feedback
Writes clear technical documentation for work performed and functionality developed
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelorâs Degree
Four years of experience in information technology systems or platform administration and/or software engineering
Two years of experience in the administration or development of cloud platforms such as ServiceNow, Salesforce, or similar cloud software applications
Experience developing and writing code or scripts with Javascript, APEX, or similar programming languages used by cloud applications or digital workflow platforms
Experience with custom object design and relational database concepts, including a strong understanding of custom applications, fields, workflows, and rules
Experience designing reports and views, including using filtering, dashboards, and visualization tools to present data and insights
Experience with cloud security platform components and concepts such as access control lists, security groups, role-based access controls, and account permissions
Experience with software development environmental governance, such as moving packages and changesets between development, test, and production environments
Experience with vendors in the SaaS field and knowledge of platform feature sets across different vendors
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated experience with project management concepts and frameworks and an ability to execute on complex project plans and deliver status updates to a variety of technical and nontechnical audiences
Recognized certifications in relevant technologies or platforms, such as a ServiceNow Certified System Administrator or Application Developer certificate or a Salesforce Administrator, Advanced Administrator, Architect or Developer certificate
The annual base salary range for this position is $133,085.09 - $146,000.00. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 5 years Minimum Expertise: Foundational knowledge of security concepts, secure code development techniques, and the design, development, and configuration of software solutions. Experience planning and performing tests of units, system integration, performance and user acceptance.
