About This Job

USC Provost IT is seeking a Cloud Applications Developer to join our growing team. This position will be a key member of an innovative and customer-focused department responsible for creating and maintaining modern IT systems, technologies, infrastructure, and applications. It will be responsible for helping architect, implement and maintain cloud applications, databases, digital workflow platforms, and other large-scale enterprise systems.

The Work

You will work on the design, development and maintenance of various cloud and digital workflow and database applications, such as ServiceNow and Salesforce, to modernize and create key University applications. These include applications for the executive offices of the University, including the Office of the Provost and President, Human Resources, Equity & Compliance, Student Affairs, Enrollment Services, Academic Affairs, and numerous other departments, offices, and divisions.

You will bring skills in software engineering and business analysis to create modern digital solutions for our client groups. Whether creating a database application to manage campuswide research funding, architecting a compliance system to track misconduct, implementing systems to improve student retention and success, or adding enhancements to an IT service desk tool, you will primarily use platforms such as ServiceNow and Salesforce to build, configure and maintain applications to modernize and meet business process needs.

You’ll also work closely other IT team members to understand the technical needs and business processes of our client groups, gathering information from multiple sources and creating plans to implement new digital workflows or applications for them. As part of this work, you will also collaborate with fellow technical staff members to select the right core platform or tools necessary, as well as work with the same team to implement data feeds or integrations with other systems as needed.

You will also be responsible for developing reports and helping clients find new ways to gain insight from the data they store in their applications. You will also provide ongoing support for various cloud applications and systems, completing tasks such as user permission adjustments, routine upgrades and patches, and technical support or troubleshooting requests.

You will also evaluate new features and capabilities of underlying platforms to make sure that existing applications continue to meet a client’s business needs over time, with a watchful eye towards continual process improvement. This includes assessing how feature changes affect existing processes and making sure systems and their data perform well and stay secure.
