Provide basic primary medical care to students in an integrated health and counseling center. Must have excellent clinical, interpersonal and health teaching skills. Knowledge of electronic N.Y.S. prescription prescribing procedures is essential, as is competency with electronic medical records. Interest and experience working with a diverse adolescent/young adult population is required. Must be team-oriented and work cooperatively with a dedicated college-health staff. This is a full time 12 month, year round position.
Duties include:
Practices as a primary care clinician for Student Health Services clients, per established protocols. These include assessment and diagnosis, providing patient health education, ordering of laboratory tests, x-rays, and prescribing medications. Provides physicals for sports, study abroad and as established by College policy. Refers to specialists and for hospitalization as indicated. Evaluation of entrance medical examination reports. Works cooperatively with clinical, nursing, counseling, and support staff. Meets on a regular basis with other Student Health and Counseling clinicians. Reports important concerns or problems appropriately through clinical and administrative channels.
Cooperates with Livingston County Health Department, physicians, health agencies and college health centers; cooperates inter-departmentally with the College. Rotates holiday coverage as needed. Recognizes and protects students’ confidentiality. Participates in outreach and health promotion activities for students, faculty and staff. Participates in GOLD Workshops. Participating in department, division, and College committees, meetings and ceremonies.
Minimum qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
A minimum of three years experience as a primary care practitioner is required.
An ability to provide culturally-competent medical care to students of various identities and backgrounds.
