Kenyon College is conducting a search for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Assistant Director of Student Engagement. In cooperation with other Student Affairs staff members, the Assistant Director of Student Engagement provides guidance and support to highly student organizations. In particular, the Assistant Director will support affinity-based organizations that enhance a sense of belonging for underrepresented students on Kenyon’s campus. This is an eleven (11) month position, and includes regular evening and weekend responsibilities.
The scope of the Assistant Director’s responsibilities typically includes:
Campus programming board
WKCO 91.9 FM student-managed radio station
The Horn Gallery live music and art venue
Horn Gallery Sound Technician and General Sound Technician student worker program
Senior class committee
Affinity collective
General student organization support
Co-supervision of student intern staff
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a related field preferred. Two to four years of graduate or professional experience in higher education required. Experience working with student activities, especially student programming boards and performance venues and radio stations, is preferred. Committed to and familiar with the values and needs of a small, private, residential liberal arts college. Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and an understanding of the unique intersections of identity and the student experience. Strong sense of organizational and administrative skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated interest in working with and mentoring college students.
