POSITION DETAILS
The Student Success Coaching Unit (SSCU) is an innovative academic engagement program that is committed to the academic, personal, and professional development of Hostos Community College students. SSCU coaches work one-on-one with students to provide academic advisement and to facilitate enrollment, degree completion, transferring, and career planning. Reporting directly to the SSCU Director, The Associate Director/Academic Resource Center Manager will report directly to the SSCU Director. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Designs, implements, and monitors a comprehensive Student Success Coaching model and protocol.
Researches, develops, and implements transitional and developmental programming for students preparing to enter college.
Liaises with advising areas /academic departments within the college to assist students/staff and faculty advisors to provide guidance and support to ensure students??? academic success.
Coordinates all planning within the unit for the monitoring of student performance and takes appropriate action if necessary; resolves student problems regarding curricular requirements, academic plans, and performs graduation audits.
Coordinates with other academic affairs staff as well as enrollment and student affairs to plan for students to enroll and select appropriate courses.
Represents the unit on cross-divisional enrollment event planning teams for the onboarding of all new, transfer, and readmitting students coming to the college.
Participates in outcomes assessment and strategic planning to further enhance coaching services.
Ensures the completion and compliance of the college's performance management target/goals.
in collaboration with Student Success Coordinators, hires, trains, and supervises a team of peer leaders/investigators.
Other related duties as assigned.
Essential duties require on campus presence.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
The following qualifications is preferred:
Experience working in higher education and in a diverse multicultural setting
At least 4 years of experience in a supervisor/managerial role
Availability to work evening and weekend hours

Implements and monitors a comprehensive student support program based on targeted academic resources such as tutoring, remedial and/or other related support services
Prepares outcomes assessment to further develop center offerings; sets goals and objectives; and supports strategic plan
Creates, implements and delivers seminars, workshops and other programs to meet the needs of students and faculty
Collaborates with academic departments and other units to design, execute and improve center offerings
Oversees promotional material development and center communications utilizing various media formats
Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management
Manages professional, instructional and/or clerical staff; may administer department budget
May seek additional funding by identifying new revenue sources and grants
Performs related duties as assigned.

$76,395-$82,928; salary commensurate with education and experience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Employees hired on or after October 1, 2022, and their eligible dependents will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, employees will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day. Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Enrollment.
An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
