Job Overview

Georgetown's School of Continuing Studies (SCS) seeks to foster a collaborative, innovative, and student-first culture shaped by Georgetown's Jesuit heritage and values. The Parent and Student Service Advisor 1 - in a temporary role - provides high-level customer service to parents, prospective students and current students on a daily basis, by acting as a central point of contact for these shareholders. They take the lead on resolving student and parent issues, maintaining applicable documentation, demonstrating institutional knowledge to refer students and parents to University departmental offices as appropriate. As well, they manage student inquiries and issues related to: the admissions and application process, course selection and registration process, scheduling, payment processes, student participation forms management, scholarship awarding management, GOCard application process, dining services, residential living services, and co-curricular social and academic programming. While students are on campus, the Parent and student Service Advisor also serves as liaison between academic and Summer Hoya or Summer Sessions staff by tracking and reporting student issues, and maintaining familiarity with student emergency protocols.

Upon completion of training, scheduled work hours change to incorporate evenings. Beginning in June, some weekend hours are required; and depending on the needs of the office, opportunities for overtime may arise.

The Parent and Student Advisor 2 has a significant impact on the quality-of-service delivery to students and parents. They carry out duties in a careful, efficient and time sensitive manner, positively impacting the quality of the programs, the quality of the student and parent experience, the value of the Georgetown brand, and significant and growing revenue streams to the University.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Director of High School Programs, the Parent and Student Service Advisor 1 interacts with outside constituents (parents and students), and coordinates service provision with Summer Hoya, Summer Sessions, and academic staff, campus partners and auxiliary services to provide high-level advising and referral services to students and parents.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent inter-personal, crisis management, organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals, and community development skills
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with partner offices, parents and students
  • Willingness and availability to work evening and additional hours as needed


Preferred qualifications
  • 1 to 2 years' customer service experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Documents and Sheets, common social media platforms, Microsoft Excel, Apply Yourself, and Destiny
