The McDonald Center of Student Well-Being, being part of the Division of Student Affairs, aspires to embrace the Okanagan Charter and nurture campus engagement in order to work collectively toward a campus where all students flourish. The Assistant Director for Strategic Community Intervention guides strategy for, as well as designs and implements community level interventions focused on supporting holistic well-being, and co-developing systemic and environmental interventions to embed well-being into every aspect of student life. These interventions will be evidenced based, data informed, and evaluated in an on-going manner to ensure effectiveness. Responsibilities focus on developing relationships with campus community groups such as academic departments, faculty, rectors, and staff departments, such as Student Affairs departments and Athletics, activating the community through data sharing, needs assessment and fostering shared leadership toward the goal of campus well-being. Although the position will focus on engaging the campus community, this position will eventually broaden its reach to include parents, alumni and the local community.
Community Activation and Community Health Organization
Present and share relevant student well-being data to staff and faculty, particularly colleagues in Student Affairs
Build and maintain collaborative and co-creative relationships with academic programs and university departments to explore on-going opportunities and training needs
Train and assist faculty and staff on how to embed well-being into their unique environments and incorporate it into their planning and policy
Develop and implement well-being alignment/needs assessment for staff and faculty departments
Work with student volunteers and student employees to provide consultation and co-develop well-being systems and interventions in campus communities, particular Student Affairs and academic departments
Curriculum Development
Collaborate with Moreau First Year Experience (required 2-semester first year course) to continue to embed well-being curriculum into the course
Develop easy to use well-being resources, toolkits and curricula for instructors, hall staff and community groups to promote well-being in a variety of environments
Collaborate on curriculum development with departments that promote well-being such as the teaching and learning, recreation, and athletics
Build Well-Being Collective
Serve on well-being related committees
Build relationships and invite new members to work together toward well-being for all students
Coordinate meetings between well-being allies
Maintain communication between partners in a future well-being collective
Analyze data collected on initiatives and impact
Write progress reports
Communications
Co-create and launch health promotion campaigns
Coordinate overall health communication for the department
Oversee department social media and newsletter
Highlight and publicize staff and faculty “well-being champions”
Other
Create and implement well-being initiatives based on department strategic plan
Advise well-being related student clubs and organizations as needed
Attend and present at regional and national trainings and conferences as applicable
Serve as a Penn Resilience Trainer as needed
Required Qualifications and Skills
Master’s degree in public health, health promotion, psychology or other related field, or an equivalent combination of a Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience.
Experience working as a health promotion professional.
Experience working in higher education.
Demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills for empowering, motivating, and developing staff and students.

Demonstrate compassionate team work attitude and skills.
Ability to build and sustain effective collaboration with university and community partners.

Ability to deliver compelling and effective presentations and educational experiences for a variety of audiences.
Commitment to lifelong learning in this quickly evolving field.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Strong assessment, research and data analysis skills and a track record of implementing best practices; survey design with Qualtrics software a plus.
Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office suite, Google applications and Canva graphic design software.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or on track to attain CHES
Experience in curriculum and instruction
