Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is currently accepting applications for a Mental Health Counselor. The Mental Health/Athletics Counselor is responsible for providing a wide range of direct mental health services to all enrolled students, with a specific interest & experience in providing counseling support to student athletes who are experiencing personal and academic concerns. In collaboration with the Athletic Department, the Mental Health/Athletics counselor will ensure that mental health issues of student-athletes are being addressed in a timely manner, stay apprised of national trends, and will use this data to inform interventions as well as provide education to student athletes, coaches, and staff. Salary is based on an 11-month obligation with the month of June off!
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work or closely related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • NYS licensed or eligible for NYS licensure, or eligible for a limited permit to practice mental health counseling.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse environment with a variety of constituents.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working on a college campus and/or a clinical mental health setting.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating psycho-educational workshops and/or trainings.
  • Experience in working with an ethnically and culturally diverse client population and a strong understanding of Athletics culture.
  • Significant experience working with individuals with persistent mental illness

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, Salary is based on an 11-month obligation with the month of June off!
    Salary and Benefits: Minimum Salary is $45,818. May be benefits eligible; more information at Careers@Brockport. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
