The University of California San Diego is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Associate Athletic Director- Compliance. We are looking for a dynamic individual to fill the Associate Athletic Director- Compliance position. The Associate Athletic Director- Compliance will coordinate and oversee the Intercollegiate Athletics' compliance and recruiting daily operations; particularly the institution's transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. Expected to be a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall NCAA compliance profession, the incumbent has functional responsibility for developing the Compliance program and will ensure the department and all of its 23 sports programs are in compliance with department, university, conference, state, and NCAA rules and regulations. The position plans and executes a comprehensive and systematic approach to monitor, evaluate and assure adherence to the rules and regulations while maintaining the quality of sensitive data and confidential information. The Associate AD, Compliance shall assess the effectiveness of the program by developing and reviewing metrics of success and will make recommendations for long-range programming needs based on requirements of the department, university, conference, and NCAA legislation. The various areas of responsibility include department education, monitoring, interpretations, investigations and other areas within the program that strengthen the athletic compliance effort. The incumbent will follow the athletic philosophy consistent with that of the UC San Diego Athletic Department and NCAA, and a commitment to diversity in all of its forms.

QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced knowledge of program activity and best practices. Progressively responsible knowledge in intercollegiate athletics compliance and management; Comprehensive understanding of NCAA Division I rules and regulations; knowledge of, financial aid processes and database management in order to accurately assess student-athlete's overall financial aid packages and verify NCAA compliance. Professional knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of NCAA athletics programs. Professional knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations related to academic eligibility, recruiting, amateurism, playing and practice seasons, and financial aid, among others.
Problem-solving skills; multi-task, work with frequent interruptions, and effective listener. Demonstrated skill to logically analyze complex situations and data and develop clear and concise reports or recommendations for management. Proven ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret data and provide appropriate response utilizing campus/department resources for report preparation and correspondence, and implementation of policies and procedures. Ability to independently make decisions/solve problems exercising professional judgment; establish workload priorities to meet deadlines and work collaboratively and effectively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact in a positive manner with diverse clientele, using a high degree of confidence, initiative, tact, diplomacy, flexibility, patience and discretion in dealing with a diverse population of students, parents, staff, supporters, campus administrators, faculty and the general public. Ability to interact effectively with others, with an affinity for networking and collaboration, while focusing on the pursuit of departmental objectives.
