Accountable for overseeing students as they take exams in the Accommodated Testing Center (ATC), which is designed to serve students with academic adjustments originating from the University's Office of Student Disability Services. Ensures academic integrity during exam administration, adhering to policies and guidelines while demonstrating empathy to diverse learners.
Accountable for administrative duties as directed by the Director of the Office of Student Disability Services and/or Learning Support Coordinator. All stipulations and special conditions detailed on the electronic exam cover sheet as dictated by the Director of the Office of Student Disability Services and/or Learning Support Coordinator are enforced by the proctor. The proctor manages the online scheduling system to support both students and faculty, administers and monitors exams, collects and stores all exam materials, and prepares the exams for faculty pickup or delivery in a secure and confidential manner. The proctor is expected to stay in the room during exam administration and monitor all students while ensuring the location is a quiet environment with minimal distractions.
Efficient operation and basic care of all testing equipment are essential aspects of the proctor's role, which includes but is not limited to computer hardware, software, and printers. The proctor demonstrates professional behaviors, provides superior customer service, and uses critical thinking skills to solve problems independently while working under minimal supervision. The proctor exercises sound judgment and flexibility while exhibiting a calm demeanor when complex situations arise.
Specific Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Create and maintain shared exam scheduling calendars, schedule forms, and other proctored requests.
Design and implement a process workflow and create a guideline manual for students and faculty to follow, from exam initiation to completion, to ensure best practices and academic integrity are clear.
Serve as the point of contact for students and faculty by sending reminder emails, flagging issues, and entering exams in exam scheduling calendars.
Package exams before student administration and prepare for pick up or delivery to faculty upon completion.
Validate student identity, collect test schedule forms and other paperwork presented by students. Document and report any testing misconduct or irregularities.
Monitor student exams to ensure and maintain exam security and maintain confidentiality regarding student testing and case information.
Ensure students adhere to the testing timetable, and that breaks are monitored, according to the cover sheet.
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Demonstrate strong organizational, time management, and workflow management skills.
Possess a high degree of confidentiality and integrity combined with a professional demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in higher education and proctoring exams.
Experience working with student disability services and a general working knowledge of commonly issued academic adjustments at the post secondary level.
Demonstrated experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Google Workspace, and Accommodate online portal system, or the ability to quickly learn and efficiently work within the systems.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
An Associate's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
Other Information:
Pay rate is $18.50/hour.
