General Summary

The Eastern Michigan University Autism Collaborative Center (ACC) is pleased to offer a center-based program that provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder for ages 2-8 years old.  The goal of this therapy is to increase functional language and appropriate social skills while decreasing undesired behaviors in a teaching environment to improve the quality of life for our clients.  The ABA curriculum is a balanced approach for teaching, utilizing Discrete Table Teaching (DTT) and Natural Environment Teaching (NET). The curriculum generally covers developing language, social, self-help, motor, and play skills.

The ACC is unique and innovative; we employ a multi-disciplinary approach for all treatment planning. The ABA program utilizes well trained behavior technicians that are directly supervised by an experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).  These services include speech and language therapy and occupational therapy. The ACC believes in intensive staff training and maintaining facility accommodations that are designed for children.  Children can look forward to a fun, engaging and social learning environment, and parents have the peace of mind knowing that ACC's therapists are working together to achieve the best possible outcome for your child.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Behavior Technician is responsible for providing intensive applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to clients. Behavior Technicians will provide one-on-one programming with each child, as well as support during group activities, related to the delivery of applied behavior analysis services in a center based environment. Behavior Technicians work under a behavior analyst who develops and supervises the child's individual programs. The behavior technician works individually with a child to teach new skills. Skills include but are not limited to: daily living skills, communication training, behavior management, pre academic skills, toileting, and social play.

Behavior Technicians will be required to collect data via electronic means, implement structured programming and behavior plans, maintain and protect the well-being of all clients as well as maintain client confidentiality, per HIPAA regulations and standards. Behavior Technicians will assist in managing materials, supplies, and maintaining a clean and safe instructional environment. It is a behavior technician's responsibility to actively participate in improving the quality of the program and center, attend all staff meetings, and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
