The Proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine at Duquesne University (DUQCOM) invites applications for a medical school Admissions Recruiter. This position requires someone who is professional, energetic, and highly service-oriented and will be responsible for growing student enrollment for the medical school.
This employee will be involved in recruitment activities for assigned degree programs encompassing yearly planning, working with all prospective students, collaborating with faculty, building relationships with potential partner institutions, and fostering community partnerships. To receive the appropriate exemption request form, contact hrservices@duq.edu. Employees with approved exemptions will be required to be tested on a regular basis. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the Director of Admissions in the development and management of yearly recruitment plans to increase program awareness, inquiry, and enrollment.
Provides advising and support through the admissions process for prospective students including information gathering, the application and interview process, and all ongoing follow-ups via phone, e-mail, and in-person visits.
Creates and maintains relationships with schools, businesses, organizations, professional networks, non-profits, and others to identify and cultivate academic opportunities with DUQCOM.
Plans and executes on- and off-campus recruitment events, virtual and in-person interview days, and travel to feeder schools, employers, and essential conferences and events for enrollment, networking, and visibility purposes.
Prepares and presents professional information sessions regarding graduate and professional programs both on and off campus and in virtual environments.
Works with the university marketing department to contribute to the various communication materials needed to promote the degree programs and various programs/services offered by DUQCOM.
Recruits students interested in designated programs delivered in on-campus and virtual modalities.
Assists the Director of Admissions in making regular reports concerning the status of recruitment and the current enrollment of students across all assigned programs.
Conducts Admission Department presentations with input and guidance from members of the DUQCOM Admissions Office.
Prepares and presents professional information sessions regarding academic programs virtually, on campus, and in the community.
Assists the Director of Admissions with developing and implementing strategies for designated program applicants to optimize yield from admission to deposit and matriculation.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with articulation partners in order to ensure informed student engagement from the partner network.
Assists the Director of Admissions, Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs, and senior leadership to coordinate and promote policies, and procedures, and ensure enrollment goals are met.
Assists the Director of Admissions and the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs in the planning and execution of yield-related events and programming.
Upholds the highest standards for regionally accredited, competitive programs.
This position requires daytime and some overnight travel as well as some night and weekend work throughout the year.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Previous college admissions/recruitment experience.
Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent skills in marketing, emerging technology, and social media.
Experience with graduate health science populations preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel by personal and university vehicle, and other transportation modalities as necessary.
Experience and training in an office environment, with knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes demonstrated proficiency with current Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher as well as Outlook e-mail.
Willingness and ability to utilize new technologies relevant to the position.
Knowledge of, or the ability to learn internal University systems.
Must be mobile and have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. It requires the ability to travel and enter facilities which may not be ADA compliant.
