POSITION: Intake, Outreach, and Care Manager for the Office for Equity, Equal Opportunity, and Title IX (EEO-TIX)’s Healthcare Team

SUPERVISOR: Deputy EEO-TIX Coordinator for Healthcare

OVERVIEW:  The Intake, Outreach, and Care Manager for the Healthcare team reports directly to the Deputy Coordiator for Healthcare and is part of a dedicated healthcare-focused (including academic schools) team that is part of  the growing Office for Equity, Equal Opportunity, and Title IX (EEO-TIX) at the University of Southern California. The creation of this position allows for the EEO-TIX office to implement a key coordination role in support of the critical initial responses to all reports, as well as ensure a consistent and timely case management process for all parties involved in either Formal or Alternative Resolution processes.

In collaboration with and in support of the Deputy EEO-TIX Coordinator for Healthcare, this position will be responsible for providing administrative and coordination support to assist with the provision of prompt, compassionate, and appropriate responses to all healthcare-related reports to the EEO-TIX office, while supporting the University’s mission to maintain an environment for faculty, staff, and students, that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, including in academics, extracurricular activities, employment, patient care, and athletics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Deputy EEO-TIX Coordinator for Healthcare, assists with the provision of prompt, compassionate, and appropriate responses to all healthcare-related reports to the Office for Equity, Equal Opportunity, and Title TIX (EEO-TIX). Assists with timely intake and initial assessment meetings to learn concerns and communicate possible courses of action, resolution options and rights and responsibilities (e.g., university support resources, law enforcement). Refers students and employees to available resources.

  • Manages ongoing accommodations for a docket of students, faculty, and staff in the form of supportive measures, with or without the filing of a formal complaint. Ensures timely and accurate documentation of all healthcare-related reports and responses relating to concerns of protected class discrimination, harassment and related retaliation.

  • Communicates and collaborates with a variety of stakeholders throughout the university to coordinate the delivery of services and ensure faculty, staff, and student needs are met. Facilitates coordination of support services both on and off campus. Develops and maintains relationships with a variety of campus partners (e.g., faculty, staff, students), and, as appropriate, refers matters outside of department’s purview to such campus partners and/or coordinates responses with them.

  • Provides administrative support to regular initial assessment triage team meetings of a multidisciplinary team of representatives from across the university (e.g., Student Affairs, Department of Public Safety, Human Resources) to promptly respond to all reports of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation and identify and document appropriate responsive steps in a timely manner.

  • Assists with training and education programs for university community members as a representative of the department.

  • Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold principles of the USC Code of Ethics and demonstrates an ongoing commitment to USC’s Unifying Values.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, and 3 or more years of related experience providing case management in the field of education, public health, social work, sociology, educational psychology, student affairs, and/or related field; experience providing care and support to students, faculty, and/or staff in a higher education setting, highly preferred.

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of civil rights laws and policies relating to higher education and employment.

  • Experience working with sensitive issues, such as domestic or dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, sexual or gender-based harassment.

  • Understanding of the impacts of racial and other forms of inequity, harassment, discrimination, and injustice.

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate support and resources. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and data in a high volume, fast-paced environment with accuracy, attention to detail, flexibility, and appropriate discretion.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interact effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Characteristics:

  • Deep knowledge of civil rights law and policy that applies to higher education and employment, in particular Title IX.

  • Deep knowledge of how healthcare organizations that offer patient care operate is a plus.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and data in a high volume, fast-paced environment with accuracy, attention to detail, flexibility, confidentiality, empathy, positivity, and compassion.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and interact effectively with a diverse array of faculty, staff, students, community members, and other third parties.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the University of Southern California’s mission and vision and commitment to USC’s core values of Integrity; Excellence; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Well-being; Open Communication; and Accountability.

  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of best practices in higher education compliance with respect to effectively addressing discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

  • Ability to act independently, take initiative, and exercise sound judgment and to also work collaboratively as a team member and University partner.

The annual base salary range for this position is $70,314.41 - $95,000.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
