The Residence Director manages the daily facilities, safety, and guidance of student staff and graduate, undergraduate, and international student populations. The Residence Director engages with students and staff to build positive communities, promote learning programs as a part of the department's education plan, and support and empower students through their overall college experience. This is a 10 month paid position with an apartment and benefits for 12 months.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Be a role model for students and staff following the values and responsibilities of the position.
• Create an environment that is free of discrimination and harassment based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, ability status, veteran status, or marital status.
• Address students' concerns and problems, engage with students in problem-solving as needs arise.
• Accomplish the strategies outlined in the Office of Residence Life's education plan within their area communities; collaborate with staff and campus partners to support the department's goals and outcomes.
• Keep staff and students informed of necessary information and upcoming events throughout the year.
• Educate students about the university's code of conduct policies, respond to crisis or emergency situations through departmental/university protocol as a part of the on-campus duty rotation.
• Be a Hearing Officer for area's conduct cases, provide educational sanctions to support personal and community development.
• Promote and advise area's Community Council/Community Clubs. Meet weekly with student volunteers as a part of the Office of Residence Life's Education Plan to create programs and other projects to enhance that area's community experience.
• Work as a member of a professional staff team to collaborate and support community-based learning; establish a positive and supportive working relationship with supervisors and staff team.
• Oversee, lead, and mentor a team of Resident Assistants, evaluate performance, and hold each accountable through the department's performance standards to promote individual success and development.
• Partner and collaborate with the area's Community Advisor to mentor Resident Assistants in their team and individual support the Community Advisor in their desk staffing and management.
• Execute weekly staff meetings and individual management meetings with Resident Assistants, build and promote team development and other projects as a part of the Office of Residence Life's Education Plan.
• Participate in proactive communication with students, paraprofessional, and professional staff.
• Collaborate within the department by serving on committees, act as a liaison for campus partners; possibility to also serve on division/university-wide projects.
• Coordinate training for professional and paraprofessional staff.
• Participate in the selection process for staff members at all levels.
• Assist students in their on-campus living experience through administrative tasks, including: ID card access, main assignments, room assignments and switches, room condition reports, and overall facilities management.
• Work with housekeeping and other Facilities staff to ensure the hall environment is safe and well-maintained.
• Support all campus-wide housing processes and facilitate local housing processes including: fall and spring semester move-ins and move-outs, break housing, and room selection.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Years of relevant or specific experience: Two Years of experience in Residence Life (student and/or professional experience)
• Academic Degree(s) and/ areas of study: Master's degree in higher education or related field
• Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable:  Yes 
• Professional Certification(s): N/A
• Must have lived on-campus for some piece of undergraduate or graduate experience.
• Have a valid driver's license

 Working Conditions:

• Night-time and weekend responsibilities
• Live-in position
