The Senior Director for Residential Living serves as the Senior Housing Officer for West Texas A&M University. The Senior Director reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Community and Engagement within the Division of Student Affairs. The Senior Director is responsible for the overall operation and facility management of the on-campus residential system consisting of nine residence halls with a capacity of over 2,100 residents. This position manages and administrators a budget of approximately $10 million. This position provides the vision, leadership, and strategic plans for the department while providing supervision to the central leadership team with indirect supervision of professional residence life staff and student staff in each hall.
Responsibilities:
Provides day-to-day oversight for entire Residential Living department which includes housing and residence life focuses.
Directs activities to achieve the goals set forth in the strategic plan for the division
Supervises and provides leadership to full-time employees of Residential Living
Works to create plans to help every residential student to develop a sense of belonging on campus
Develops departmental short and long-term goals and objectives centered around student learning and retention, then implements programs, strategies, and assessment techniques to meet and measure those goals and objectives
Assists in and supports the development of collaboration and partnerships with academic and student life departments to enhance community building and student learning
Oversees the development and implementation of comminutions, marketing, and programs aimed to address the transition of students and their families
Ensures that all state and federal housing laws as well as university policies are followed
Develops and oversees the entire Residential Living budget to meet the fiscal goals of the University
Manages the team that oversees the application, billing, and housing assignment process
Collaborates with Physical Plant and other external companies for all major maintenance or renovation projects
Oversees the facility work order system and is responsible for keeping the facilities in good working order to meet the needs of our on-campus students
Oversees and serves on an on-call rotation of professional staff that provides after-hours and weekend support to professional and student staff members for the department
Participates in division meetings and on university committees as needed
Serves as a member of the AVP Leadership Team:
Collaborate with the team to develop innovative programs to support student success, wellbeing, and retention efforts
Uses data, assessment and best practices to continuously improve the wellbeing of WT students
Develops innovative ways to increase and maximize utilization of residential facilities
Works to develop relationships and partnerships with students, staff, faculty, and student organizations.
Establishes and maintains cooperative and professional working relationships with students, faculty, staff, campus administrators, and critical 3rd party businesses.
Maintain proficiency and provides excellent customer service in areas of responsibility.

Necessary Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Student Personnel Services, Higher Education Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
At least seven (7) years of administrative/managerial residential housing experience, including facility management on a college campus or comparable
Experience training and supervising staff
Experience with budget management
Experience working with capital project planning
Skilled at building and maintaining relationships across campus in support of student transition, retention, and success
Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication, time management, and decision-making skills
Proven ability to maintain excellent facilities and manage projects efficiently
Knowledge and skills related to crisis intervention and management
Demonstrated commitment to customer service
Excellent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications
Proficient with residential management software
Ability to multitask and work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
Ability to develop and implement residential living procedures that are consistent with the residential curriculum including diversity, inclusivity, and equity goals
Some work beyond normal office hours and work on weekends will be necessary during various times to meet the requirements of the position
Some travel will be required
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or related field.
Experience in the development of residential learning communities through partnerships with academics and student affairs departments
Experience with the development and implementation of the curricular approach to student affairs
Experience working with auxiliary finances
Proficient in StarRez, Roompact and/or Maxient software programs
