The Placement Exchange Job Board

The Assistant Director for Staff Development and Training is a pivotal part of the Office of Residence Life’s Leadership Team and helps us achieve the mission of the Office of Residence Life and the University of Kentucky.  The position will oversee nearly all aspects of training and development for professional and student staff in the Office of Residence Life, including Fall/Spring Training, the Student Leadership Class, and ongoing development events throughout the year. This role will be vital to ground efforts in professional and paraprofessional competencies and create an assessment plan for staff training, development, and culture. The position will also help develop strategies to enhance staff well-being, diversity, and inclusion and ways to impact our work environments positively. 

The position will also oversee approximately 2-3 Residence Halls, hall staff (with full-time RDs as direct reports), and the staff’s efforts to engage and support students in those halls. The Assistant Director will provide development, support, and high-quality supervision for their direct reports. 

The position will also serve on the department’s Leadership Team in strategic planning for their area and participate in the Leadership Team’s on-call rotations to support the Resident Director’s on-call for undergraduate housing.
