Job Summary: We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Coordinator - Residential Life
Position is responsible for a residence hall of 250 to 400 students and residential life projects, including promoting a desirable living environment through effective communications with students, staff and other departments as well as project and activities. Position advises, counsels and educates students within the residential life setting, and is responsible for enforcing university and residence hall policies and regulations. Position oversees student employees, including selecting, training, supervising and evaluating student employees performing work in the residence halls. This position collaborates with a number of other departments on campus and some travel may be required.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (start date)
Minimum of one year of Student Affairs experience in a higher education environment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with campus colleagues
High level of cultural humility and experience working effectively with marginalized populations, including first generation college students.
Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Master’s Degree in Students Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field
Experience working with Star Rez and Banner
Bilingual – Spanish
Two years of residential life experience
Experience with program development and assessment of residential curriculum
Experience with project management
Experience supervising student staff

Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate 5-18 Community Advisors (CA) and Office Workers
Attend and assist in facilitating departmental CA training as well as plan and implement in-hall staff training sessions.
Facilitate weekly staff meetings and individual meetings with student staff to encourage growth and development.
Utilize Leadership strategies on a departmental level and ensure its use among staff.
Provide staff members with ongoing positive and constructive feedback including formal evaluations once a quarter.

Serve as a resource for students and staff by counseling, advising, and providing appropriate referrals for residents in need of professional services available on and off campus.
Advise, direct and provide leadership to building student government (Hall/Community Council) including leadership elections, programming and leadership development.

Act as a liaison with campus partners
Perform “essential functions” and are required to report to work during emergencies and university closures.
Participate in a live-on on-call duty rotation to provide emergency response for campus,
including weekend and holiday coverage.
Provide, coordinate, and supervise a customer service oriented front desk.
Monitor and/or administer student employee scheduling and payroll preparation.
Utilize online and desktop programs to manage facilities work orders, hall occupancy, and hall resources (StarRez).
Manage budgetary responsibilities as appropriate within the parameters of the position. Budgets include staff development, community building, hall/community council, office supplies, and payroll.

Assist in the annual opening and closing of the residential halls, including the beginning and end of each quarter.
Coordinate the in hall and between halls room change process and maintain appropriate communication with the Housing staff who coordinate occupancy, student staff and students.
Attend hall leadership meetings and area meetings held on a regularly scheduled basis.
Maintain appropriate administrative paperwork including keys audits, program evaluations, etc.
Regularly tour and monitor the condition of the building including safety/security hazards, maintenance, custodial and accessibility hazards. Report, track, and follow up on facilities issues in the hall. Advocate for facilities improvements to enhance student development and academic success within a residential setting.

Conditions of Employment: This position is 100%, 12 month, “live-in” position. In addition to base salary, position includes apartment with utilities, cable TV, and internet.
The individual will live on campus; have week day and weekend on call duties, supervision of staff and administration of the building, other duties as assigned.
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
