In collaboration with the Assistant Dean & Director of Residential Education, the Associate Director of Residential Education directs all aspects of the House Community Residential Education program to develop and administer positive and engaging communities and programs that support student success, foster integrative learning, offer opportunities for student growth and development, and nurture students to be responsible members of the residence hall system. Provides particular oversight and support of living-learning programs and academic initiatives. Supervises live-in professional staff.
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Master’s Degree in Student Affairs or a Counseling-related discipline, or the equivalent.
3-5 years of progressive, relevant professional student affairs experience, preferably with a residential life focus, or the equivalent.
Experience supervising undergraduate-level staff.
Demonstrated cultural competence and proven effectiveness in serving the needs of a diverse undergraduate student population.
Demonstrated experience in programmatic leadership, assessment, and evaluation.
Familiarity with living-learning and/or special interest programs in residence halls.
Experience working collaboratively with faculty.
Mature judgment, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional interpersonal and persuasive skills and ability to relate well and interact with students, faculty, parents and College administrators.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and expertise with organizational systems and software.
Ability to take initiative, balance competing demands, manage ambiguity, and make decisions under pressure.
Understanding of academic institutional policies and politics.
Good written communication and public speaking skills.
Creative programming skills and strong supervisory and leadership ability.
Familiarity with budget administration.
Ability to adapt personal and professional schedule to the College’s year-round calendar.
Demonstrated ability to apply student development theory and practice in an evolving and complex residential setting.
