As the campus' primary mental health and psychological wellness service for students, the Counseling & Student Development Center (CSDC) is uniquely positioned to make meaningful contributions to Bucknell's initiatives related to diversity and fostering a culture of inclusion on campus. Additionally, we are committed to professional development and are proudly able to offer annual funding for opportunities to foster professional growth.

For this position, the Staff Psychologist provides brief, multiculturally-sensitive counseling for individuals, groups, and couples with diverse presenting concerns.

Job Duties:
1. Provide comprehensive clinical assessment for students; triage clinical needs and make recommendations based on clinical judgment and available resources.
2. Provide individual therapy to students with presenting issues including, but not limited to: trauma, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, grief, loneliness/isolation, identity development, family conflict, career exploration, attention/focus issues, stress management, chronic suicidal thoughts, and relationship issues.
3. Manage urgent mental health needs during same-day appointments (e.g., suicide risk assessment, evaluation of ability to care for self, evaluation of risk to campus community).
4. Complete risk assessment when clinically indicated during course of treatment and identify appropriate interventions for students in crisis.
5. Provide clinical assessments of students in a mental health crisis demonstrating effective clinical skills and effective treatment planning for a variety of mental health concerns and conditions, with varying levels of severity.
6. Respond to mental health emergencies in a culturally responsive manner to support students in a framework and manner that acknowledges their unique and intersecting personal and cultural identities.
7. Identify appropriate interventions for students in crisis, working effectively with the staff of the UCC to access appropriate resources, and engaging campus partners effectively to develop an effective plan for supporting students.
8. Provide 24/7 on-call coverage for urgent mental health needs as a part of the center's after-hours crisis management system.
9. Evaluate the need for psychiatric evaluation and facilitate referral.
10. Coordinate care with off-campus providers including primary care physicians and mental health providers.
11. Consult with university staff, faculty, students, family members and other university professionals to support student's health and safety.
12. Maintain current and accurate information about local resources and refer students to campus (e.g., career services, student health, etc.) and off campus (e.g., community mental health programs, community clinicians) resources as needed.
13. Provide services consistent with professional ethical standards and generally accepted standards of practice.
14. Develop, implement and evaluate community intervention programs/outreach services that: a) help prevent problems, b) educate students, staff and faculty about mental health/psychological issues and wellness, and c) teach skills for self-care and community health and safety.
15. Participate in the planning of effective and innovative intervention and skill development programs for students based on knowledge and awareness of emergent campus mental health trends and needs.
16. Actively participate in weekly Staff and Case Conference meetings.
17. Maintain appropriate and timely documentation for recordkeeping and communication with other service providers based on ethical and legal standards and requirements to enhance care for students.

Administrative Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to the office's operational responsibilities, e.g., exercise appropriate stewardship of center budget and resources, contribute to center-wide goals and projects, contribute to office planning, assist with divisional and university responsibilities, etc.
2. Engage in professional development to maintain best practices, meet legal and professional requirements/guidelines for licensed clinical practice.
2. Engage in both need assessments and service outcome assessments/evaluations to support the effectiveness and efficiency of services. Make appropriate changes in services based on assessment findings.
4. Provide direction for, manage and administer, and/or contribute to projects assigned as part of the center's annual goals or other center or divisional projects.
5. Lead and/or Serve on Divisional and University committees as appropriate.
6. Perform other duties necessary to enhance the student experience and/or facilitate the success of Bucknell University, the Division of Student Affairs, or the Counseling & Student Development Center.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master's degree (MA) in clinical mental health counseling, psychology, or Social Work.
2. Licensed or license eligible in Pennsylvania
3. Experience working with college-aged young adults
4. Demonstrated multicultural counseling competency
5. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in advancing diversity topics and supporting multicultural identity development, as well as proven ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
6. Experience with group services (i.e., therapy and support groups)

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working in a college/university counseling center setting
2. Specialized experience and demonstrated competence in providing clinical services related to one or more of the following:
a. Men's issues and masculinity
b. Diverse populations including but not limited to those who have historically experienced barriers to mental health access (e.g. students of color, LGBTQIA+ community, linguistically diverse backgrounds)
c. Anxiety and DBT skill-building (e.g. distress tolerance, emotional regulation)

Work Type:
This is a full-time, year round, benefits eligible position.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.

Salary Range:
This is a staff exempt position with a hiring range of $52,500 - $65,625. The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.

Credit for full-time benefits eligible employment at other institutions of higher education will be applied to waiting periods.
