About University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB

(This is not a state position)

University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ('UEC') supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We're responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, full time exempt, benefited position through 6/30/2023 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

Salary: $5,374 per month

Location: San Bernardino, CA

Program Summary:

Inland Empire Cal-SOAP is a state-funded program administered through the California Student Aid Commission. Cal-SOAP projects operate throughout California by consortia made up of secondary and postsecondary schools and community agencies. The purpose of the project is to improve the flow of information about postsecondary education and financial aid while raising the achievement levels of participating students. Cal-SOAP San Bernardino County Consortium is partnered with ten school districts, five community colleges, 3 universities and multiple community-based organizations throughout San Bernardino County.

Work Schedule

Exempt. Schedule to be arranged, but typically, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm though some nights, weekend work may be required.

First Review Deadline

This position will remain open until filled. Applications will be reviewed beginning 3/14/2023.

Typical Activities

Under minimal supervision of the Associate Director of Cal-SOAP, the (POSITION) will work independently to:
  • Recruitment, training, evaluation, and continuous supervision of Student Success Coaches;
  • Coordination of Student Success Coach schedules with host school sites;
  • Responsible for staying informed, and keeping team abreast, of current educational policy, processes, requirements and deadlines regarding college access; including, but not limited to, high school graduation, college applications, and financial aid;
  • Ensures the integrity of data collection and evaluation in the student management database;
  • Provides support with the submission of weekly, monthly and annual reporting, as required by agency, project, district and institution;
  • Coordinates Student Success Coaches to support special projects and events;
  • Collaborates with host sites in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Cash for College workshops, including scheduling, recruitment, coordinating Student Success Coaches for support, and facilitating Cash for College presentations;
  • Coordinates with staff in the development of summer programming, including hiring and training summer staff, as well as scheduling activities, workshops and field trips;
  • Provides support to the Associate Directors in developing and managing relationships with district and host site partners;
  • Ensures all host sites submit Cost Share documentation in a timely manner;
  • Collaborates with the Office Manager and Director to ensure that the program is compliant with the 30% required minimum budget threshold for college student employment;
  • Maintains regular communication with Director and Office Manager, in order to monitor, revise and provide updates on staffing trends as it relates to the budget;
  • Consistently monitors the enrollment trends across all partner sites to determine adequate staffing allocations;
  • Actively engages in staff meetings, retreats, and professional development conferences;
  • Assists with the development of pre-college curricula, training, workshops, and presentations;
  • Participates in subcommittees with campus and community partners, in order to coordinate efforts for outreach, programming and/or funding opportunities;
  • Travel throughout San Bernardino County is required;
  • Performs other dues as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience working in outreach and/or advising programs with no less than two (2) years' experience cultivating partnerships with K-12 and college partners.
  • Other:
    • Applicants should have successful experience developing, managing, and implementing the delivery of support services to middle and high schools.
    • Applicants must have strong organizational, management, leadership, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
    • Applicants should have a strong understanding of financial aid, high school graduation and college application processes, procedures and requirements.
    • Applicants must have a high level of knowledge of educational grant-funded programs and federal and state grant regulations and their requirements.
    • Applicants must have the ability to analyze problems and resolve conflicts, to do long-range planning and develop implementation procedures, to establish rapport and positive working relationships with campus departments, faculty members, administrators, teachers, counselors, outreach staff, student and family participants and other partners and to articulate the goals of the project to campus and community members in order to generate support for the objectives and ideals of Cal-SOAP.
    • Applicants must have the ability to travel to and from various school and community-based sites throughout San Bernardino County as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, or Higher Education is preferred. Applicants that have experience in overcoming barriers similar to those of Cal-SOAP students are desirable.
