Position Summary:
The LGBT Resource Center provides support, education, and advocacy from an intersectional perspective regarding sexual orientation/attraction and gender identity/expression for the UC Irvine Campus Community. Under the general supervision of the LGBTRC Director, the Trans Care Specialist serves as the nexus of support for the Trans-identified students and the integration of education and awareness for the stakeholders and campus community. Major functional areas of responsibility include coordination of training programs for campus community, bias incident response management, case management, student advocacy, and develop visibility for trans and nonbinary spectrum identified people on campus. The Trans Care Specialist works closely with varying divisions/units to identify and intervene as early as possible for trans students that need support services. They also provide support to departments to help develop strategies and best practices to improve and provide high quality service to our trans and nonbinary populations. Serves as a student advocate that empowers trans student to exercise their rights, understand campus policies and navigate campus life. This position is responsible for expanding upon and developing new student-centered resources that address emerging critical issues affecting out trans/enby populations.
The departmental budgeted salary for this position is $54,000.00

$53,400.00 - $94,000.00 (annual)
Required:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three (3) years of practical experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques with college student populations. Strong knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences. Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life specialization. Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. Abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills. Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. Excellent initiative, resourcefulness, and attention to detail. Ability to manage/coordinate in an office operation including developing procedures, program planning and analysis or qualitative review to determine appropriate actions. Knowledge/understanding of diverse issues in higher education. Ability to learn policies and procedures from both verbal and written source Ability to give and record clear, concise information or directions (written and verbal).
Preferred:
Master's degree in college student personnel, student development, higher education administration counseling, LGBTQ studies or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
