Job Description Summary The Assistant Director, Multicultural Center - Training and Education oversees the development and implementation of student programs that focus on engagement, education, and leadership. This position will work closely with the Director in the development and delivery of the Center's services and programs, and will manage the statistical data compilation for the center on a semester and annual basis that will be used to measure the effectiveness of Multicultural Center (MCC) programming.
Essential Duties
Represent the MCC on divisional and university wide committees including the Student Emergency Fund Committee.
In collaboration with the Multicultural Center Team, lead the creation of educational sessions and training workshops that can be delivered to campus partners upon request.
Provide oversight to student Multimedia Team including direct supervision and providing approval of content that is produced for distribution.The Multimedia team is responsible for social media content and the Blue Table Podcast.
Participate in policy and budget discussions related to training and education.
Build effective working relationships with faculty and staff across campus to leverage campus expertise to educations workshops.
Serve as a resource for students of color, first generation students, and allies on academic, personal, social, and cultural matters through advising, and mentorship in both one-on-one and group settings.
Assist with the continued management of the student worker program so that students are developing skills that enable them to achieve their professional goals.
Develop and lead culturally relevant social and educational programs--with the aid of our work study students-- including cultural heritage celebrations, facilitated film screenings, dialogues, and the MOSAIC Experience pre-orientation program for students of color. This will include developing a proposed budget and utilizing assessment tools to gauge the success of programs.
Assist with the maintenance of Multicultural Center marketing and media presence, including web pages and social media.
Maintain awareness of global and national trends that may impact students of color.
2-4 years experience in higher education, multicultural education, equity and inclusion, counseling or related field.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated presentation skills preferred.
Strong collaboration skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
Work Environment
Typical office setting with extensive sitting and computer work
Ability to travel around campus for meetings and other work related events and duties
Position will require some nights and weekends responsibilities
