The John H. Pace, Jr. â™39 Center for Civic Engagement works to make service and civic engagement a central part of the Princeton student experience. As articulated in its 2020-2025 Strategic Plan, the Pace Centerâ™s work is guided by a set of partnership principles, a commitment to anti-racism, and a student learning framework that centers equity, empathy, and empowerment. The Pace Center offers over 250 summer service internships and provides robust programming throughout the summer and academic year.
This casual hourly position will work alongside the Assistant Director and the Director of Service Focus to support the Pace Center's growing programming related to summer service internships and experiential learning. This position will provide essential support for Service Focus, a University program that links learning from internships to studentsâ™ academic interests.
Responsibilities
Event Planning
Support in the organization, logistics, and execution of the September 12th kick-off celebration event for the 2022-23 Service Focus students. This will be a gathering of approximately 80 students along with staff, faculty, community partners, and other supporters of the program as well.
Assist in the organization, logistics, and execution of fall celebratory receptions for returning Bogle fellows and Project for Peace recipients.
Support in the organization, logistics, and execution of outreach and recruitment information sessions for Service Focus and summer service internships throughout November.
Logistical Support
Work with junior and senior Service Focus fellows to secure room reservations and food orders for Service Focus cohort meetings. There will be seven Service Focus cohorts, and each group will hold meetings every other week from mid-September through early December.
Support with community partner coordination (e.g. scheduling and honoraria)
Support junior and senior fellows with Service Focus trip logistics as needed
Program Communications
Prepare student profiles and format and edit documents for Service Focus and Bogle fellowship program reporting and communications.
Complete website updates and other communications needs as they arise.
Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal skills with strong orientation towards relating to others, approachability, teamwork, and professionalism.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be flexible and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and judgment and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage time and work systems
Excellent computer skills including advanced proficiency using email and the Microsoft Office suite of applications
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a higher education environment
