The Associate Director will work directly with Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) leadership development and will serve as one of five full-time staff members working in Fraternity and Sorority Life. Accountability and Education:
Directly oversee, approve, and assist with all leadership and educational programs for councils.
Consult chapters on social event planning and implementation after they violate a university policy.
Work in partnership with Student Conduct to investigate Student Code of Conduct violations and support organization accountability.
Knowledge and presentation skills in TIPS, Alcohol Skills Training Program, sexual violence prevention, social practice standards, risk reduction and other/similar programs.
General knowledge and insight of crisis management response and understanding of each organization's national guidelines for crisis response.
Program Management:
Coordinate the annual Greek Awards Ceremony in partnership with Assistant Directors.
Create programming to assist chapters in fulfilling all expectations in the Greek Life Relationship Statement and to fulfill the University's commitments as outlined in this document.
Assist with coordinating major programs such as the annual PHA/NPHC Step Show, Homecoming, PHA/NPHC Step Off, 49er New Year, Airband, etc.
Supervise and attend all major office and council programming.
Oversee and directly manage all logistics, reservations, and information for students attending AFLV.
Marketing and Development:
Coordinate alongside the University Foundation to create opportunities for Greek alumni engagement, including the planning of the Greek Alumni Reunion.
Partner with the office of Marking to incorporate university brand standards in all external communications.
Direct council publications and presence at Summer Orientation, Open House, and special events throughout the year.
Coordinate Greek Life Office student and parent informational all external marketing materials, including video production.
Oversee and provide content on office social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and utilize Zoomph as at major events.
Student Group Advising: Chapter:
Serve as a liaison to more than inter/national fraternities and sororities, alumni/ae advisors, and more than 40 undergraduate chapters regarding chapter operations, extension/expansion, university policies, discipline cases, and other relevant issues.
Oversee the Relationship Statement Standards Program, managing collection, review and reporting of annual assessment of chapter development.
Develop recovery plans for groups not meeting minimum Relationship Statement Standards
Work with individual chapters to address academic performance and scholarship within the FSL community.
Oversee Membership Recruitment, New Member and Intake Processes, including Extension/Expansion Efforts, and educational programs surrounding recruitment and/or intake
Council Development:
Directly advise executive board officers and delegates of the advisee Council(s) and work closely with presidents, other chapter leadership, and council executive members (Currently the Interfraternity council and its 13 member organizations).
Develop and facilitate organization expansion growth in the interfraternity council, including keeping a timeline and creation and maintaining MOUs for each organization.
Provide leadership and support to other Greek councils in our office (DGC, PHA, IGC, NPHC).
Develop programs and services that foster a sense of community among Greek organizations, including attendance at council meetings.
Provide council and chapter officer training and transition support, including best practices related to each position.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Masters Degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education, or related areas.
At least three year professional work experience in higher education including direct involvement with Fraternity and Sorority Life.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
5 years professional work experience in higher education including direct involvement with Fraternity and Sorority Life.
Experience supervising at least one full time staff person.
Presentation and/or publication work in the area of Higher Education.
Knowledge and practice of student development theory, counseling and advising practices, current fraternity and sorority issues, and risk management policies.
Ability to organize, implement, and evaluate student programs with in depth assessment.
Experience in advising Greek letter organizations and culturally based Greek groups.
Membership in a Greek-letter organization is desirable.
