The Assistant Director for Fitness & Wellness, under the direction of the Director of Campus Recreation & Wellness, is responsible for the administration, planning, organization, and day-to-day operations of all fitness/wellness/instructional programs, personal training, incentive programs, and educational outreach including workshops and presentations. The position provides direct supervision of the Fitness Coordinator and Wellness Graduate Assistant, and indirect supervisor of the Fitness Programs Graduate Assistant.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, mentoring, direct supervision, and evaluation of the Fitness Coordinator.
Provide leadership, mentoring, direct supervision, and evaluation of the Student Wellness Graduate Assistant.
Administer and provide overall direction and management to a comprehensive and diversified fitness & wellness program.
Administer and manage the Fitness & Wellness budget, to include programming, services, staffing, and equipment.
Create and implement goals and strategic initiatives for fitness/wellness/instructional programs, incentive programs, and educational outreach.
Supervise and assist with the implementation and facilitation of pre-semester and ongoing training for all fitness/wellness/instructional programs student staff.
Develop intentional, wellness-based programing that centers on healthy lifestyle choices and the overall well-being of the WKU Student
Plan, execute, and evaluate a collaborative wellness-based incentive program with CRW program areas and campus partners.
Oversee fitness/wellness participant relations, risk management, program assessment, and program-specific technologies.
Develop and implement assessment strategies and tools to assess participants' needs and interests, satisfaction, and impact.
Work closely with CRW Marketing to coordinate marketing strategies for fitness/wellness programs and services.
Departmental Responsibilities:
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and contribute to an inclusive working and learning environment.
Support and align with the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of Campus Recreation & Wellness.
Serve on departmental committees and work teams to accomplish collaborative goals of the department.
Fulfill night and weekend responsibilities as needed.
Position shall include but is not limited to the duties listed above. May perform other duties assigned to help maintain Campus Recreation & Wellness operations and services.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Public Health, Recreation, Sports Management, Student Affairs, Management, or related field of study.
At least four (4) years of related experience (internships and graduate assistantships are acceptable for determining minimum required experience).
At least three (3) years of personnel supervision experience. (student staff, graduate assistant, or full-time personnel supervision is acceptable)
Current certifications include nationally accredited in one or more of the following: Personal Training Certifications (ACE NASM, ACSM, CSCS etc.) Group Fitness Certifications (ACE, AFAA, ACSM etc.)
AED, CPR, First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within first three (3) months of employment.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000
