Brief Summary of Work for this position:
The Associate Director is responsible for managing Health Promotion, a unit within the Student Health Center. This position is responsible for creating and overseeing the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of an evidence-informed comprehensive program focused on student health and well-being.
This position directly supervises the Health Promotion staff and is available to other health center staff as well as on-campus partners for consultation and education surrounding student health and well-being. In addition, they are a member of the Student Health Center Executive Committee and have a role in the continuity of operations planning and emergency response.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Master's degree in Health Education, Public or Community Health, or a related field
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience :
- CHES or MCHES certification is preferred
- Previous experience in college health or higher education is preferred.
- Previous work experience as a Health Educator in a college/university setting is preferred.
- Previous experience with marketing is preferred.
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty, families, and local partners, with a focus on confidentiality
- Must have strong written communication, verbal communication, and presentation skills
- Must have a working knowledge of current health issues common in college health
- Must have previous supervisory experience.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
The mission of the Abrons Student Health Center (SHC) is to provide student-centered affordable, quality health and preventive services to the students of UNCW. The SHC provides comprehensive medical services, a retail pharmacy, health education, and intervention services. Utilizing an ecological health model, the SHC supports collegiate success and sustained health and well-being for all UNCW students.
As a part of the SHC, the Health Promotion office provides information on a variety of health and wellness topics, including alcohol and other drugs, nutrition, sexual health, sleep, and stress. They provide services and educational programming to increase students' knowledge and commitment to personal health and well-being. The office also provides educational programs for the campus conduct system and coordinates the collegiate recovery community.

The Division of Student Affairs consists of fourteen functional departments, each of which is responsible for providing a variety of student support, service, and educational programs which are accessible to all members of the university community. The staff members are dedicated individuals known for their passion and commitment to implementing programs and services that affect student development over the course of a lifetime.
