The Orientation Programs office at Purdue University is looking to fill three important positions to help their team grow! Our office facilitates experiences where new students are welcomed to the university through “All Aboard Purdue,” a four-step process to start their journey as Boilermakers. The four steps are interconnected to help transition 9,000+ incoming undergraduate students to campus each year. Over 600 current students serve as peer leaders to support the office mission and help new students in their transition.
Working for this team might be for you if you:
have an understanding of and appreciation for inclusion, including the ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and identities
want to join a dedicated staff committed to innovating and continuously moving programs and experiences forward for new students and staff
seek to understand the experiences of students, with the desire to think critically and thoughtfully about supporting and connecting all new undergraduate students to Purdue University
have experience in event planning, online learning development, student development, and/or curriculum development
want to learn and grow as a professional in a fun environment
One Program Coordinator role supports pre-arrival programs: the Purdue 101 and Purdue 102 online orientation experiences, and the in-person Summer Visit Days. For Purdue 101 and Purdue 102, this may include, but is not limited to the collection and organization of information from campus partners, the development of online orientation modules, improving the experience for incoming students, program assessment annually and longitudinally, and critical attention to student progress. For Summer Visit Days, this may include but is not limited to event planning, staff management, participant and guest communications, and general program execution.
One Program Coordinator role supports active student development for 700+ undergraduate student staff: Oversees the Student Orientation Committee (SOC) at group, committee, and individual levels. Provides support and guidance in one-on-one and group settings for student staff training, recruitment strategies, interviews, selection processes, and professional development. Responsible for oversight of peer leadership curriculum. Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, and development as needed for students. Hold individual meetings with undergraduate students to promote open communication, professional development, and contribute positively to the office work environment.
Each Program Coordinator will join the collaborative work of the team to support Purdue Welcome programs – Boiler Gold Rush, Boiler Gold Rush International, and Boiler Cold Rush – including the opportunity for event management, relationship building with student staff, incoming students and families, and campus and community partners.
Additional benefits to this role include:
