The Associate Director of Residence Life for Residential Education is an integral member of the Residence Life and Student Affairs team. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Residence Life, the Associate Director is responsible for the development and coordination of living-learning initiatives and community development initiatives for the University’s residential community.
Supervision and Residence Life Program Development
Comprehensive supervision of 1 full-time live-in Coordinator of Residence Life and 4 graduate Community Coordinators, including recruitment, training, overall supervision, and evaluation of staff
Coordination and implementation of a comprehensive Resident Assistant student leadership program including recruitment, selection, and training
Implementation of a residential community development model focused on relationship development, inclusive communities, and student learning
Oversight of large-scale departmental programming
Oversight of assessment and evaluation of programs, student learning, and student engagement
Management of all related budget and administrative processes, including budget allocation, purchasing approval, and documentation
Management of Students of Concern and Crisis Response
Serve in a rotation of secondary support to first-level response provided by live-in professional staff including coordinating immediate communication with parents, emergency contacts, and relevant university stakeholders as needed
Serving as a member of University’s CARE Team and coordinate response to residential students of concern
Serving as a university student conduct officer
Oversee continued development of university’s Living-Learning Communities
Supervision of program development, faculty collaboration, and community engagement with current LLCs (STEM and Mission-based Scholars,)
In support of Residence Life strategic planning, developing and implementing additional LLCs
Management of assessment of students’ LLC experience and learning outcomes
Marketing and Assessment Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Residence Life for Housing Operations, develop and implement a social media presence focused on information sharing, student engagement, and promoting key events and processes within the Office of Residence Life.
Support departmental assessment efforts, including development, implementation, and analysis of satisfaction, learning, and evaluative data. This may include the creation of outcomes, measures, and assessment instruments.
Additional Responsibilities
Representing the Office of Residence Life through involvement in divisional and university initiatives
Along with the Senior Director of Residence Life and the Associate Director of Housing Operations, implementing departmental processes, events, and policies collaboratively and in alignment with university, divisional, and departmental calendars and priorities
Engaging in professional development and training as determined by university, divisional, and departmental leaders
In consultation with and at the direction of the Senior Director of Residence Life, coordinating emerging university, divisional, and departmental needs and initiatives
Working occasional evenings and weekends as necessitated by departmental programs and expectations
Required Qualifications
Master’ degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or other relevant discipline
At minimum 3 years full-time progressively responsible experience in Residence Life or related Student Affairs functional area
Supervisory experience beyond student supervision
Demonstrated commitment to multicultural competence and work in fostering inclusive residential communities
Demonstrated understanding of the Jesuit Catholic tradition that grounds the university and the work advanced by the Office of Residence Life
Crisis management and student of concern response experience
Strong oral and written communication, analytical, assessment, and staff development skills
Experience communicating with students’ parents, campus partners, and other stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supervising graduate students and/or Master’s level professionals
Crisis management and student of concern response experience beyond traditional first response head of hall/resident director duty/on-call response
Previous program development experience, including work with residential living-learning communities
