Keck Medicine of USC Advancement (Keck Advancement) is seeking an Associate Director of Donor Relations (the Associate Director). Reporting to the Senior Director of Donor Relations, the Associate Director is a vital member of the Donor Relations and Events team. The individual will steward a portfolio of donors that includes, but may not be limited to, annual giving, first-time, and student scholarship donors.
In addition to managing a portfolio of donors, the Associate Director will also oversee Donor Relationsâ physical recognition program and execute distinct aspects of Donor Relationsâ donor communications program. The Associate Director will work collaboratively with colleagues across Keck Advancement, the USC Keck enterprise (Keck School of Medicine, Keck Medicine of USC, Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, Verdugo Hills Hospital, and more), USCâs central advancement team, and others.
The individual who holds this position is expected to think creatively and expansively, leverage established and emerging best practices in stewardship and physical recognition, be solutions- and results-oriented, excel in delighting customers, adept at building and maintaining processes and systems, manage multiple stakeholder and project needs, act as a team player, and promote an environment that fosters inclusivity and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold principles of the USC Code of Ethics.
This position is currently hybrid (remote and in-office weekly).
Responsibilities
Oversee the design, implementation, and measurement of comprehensive stewardship programs for annual giving (including leadership annual giving), first-time, and student scholarship donors in the USC Keck academic medical enterprise.
Serve as the main stewardship liaison for the enterpriseâs nascent leadership annual giving society. Working closely with the Director of Leadership Annual Giving and the Director of Events, help set and execute stewardship strategies that fulfill the target goals for this giving society.
Devise a new program to creatively acknowledge, engage, and retain first-time donors to the USC Keck enterprise. Measure programâs activities to understand if activities are achieving desired outcomes.
Lead stewardship of scholarship donors in tight collaboration with the medical education gift team and student affairs staff within the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Implement biennial scholarship stewardship outreach to relevant donors by liaising with students to build biographical profiles and narrative updates that give the donor visibility into the studentsâ experience and share their gratitude for their scholarship support. Support build-out of key creative assets for the student scholarship stewardship experience, and serve as a key support colleague for the Annual Scholarship Luncheon.
Steward key donors within the above portfolios by creating and executing customized stewardship plans in close collaboration with relevant gift officers. Plans will be built to optimize donor-centric experience and be sustainable, scalable.
Manage Keck Medicine of USC Advancement physical recognition program. Plan and implement processes, policies, and systems for physical recognition opportunities for USC Keck donors. Build relationships and work collaboratively with key facilities and institutional contacts around the Health Sciences Campus, and external vendor(s), to execute contracting, database management, design, production, and installation of physical recognition.
Collaborate with Keck Advancementâs Events, Annual Giving, and Communications colleagues to activate communications products and experiences that appropriately engage portfolioâs donor audiences. Propose new ideas to refresh and upgrade relevant portfolio communications products.
Contribute to the strategic implementation of the donor relations operation. Collaborate in the development, execution, and maintenance of new donor recognition, retention, and stewardship program/activities. Support data-driven decision-making within the team.Â
Foster key partnerships with Keck- and University-wide advancement partners to ensure partnership, collaboration, efficiency, and alignment; and, serve as a liaison between Keck Medicine of USC and other USC advancement staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree and/or combined education/experience as substitute
5 years or experience or combined education/experience as substitute
Preferred Qualifications
At least 7 years of relevant experience.
Experience working in a complex institutional setting, especially medicine and/or academia.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Public speaking skills.

Experience with Salesforce, including Marketing Cloud, as well as Adobe, InDesign, and other creative and database software programs.

The annual base salary range for this position is $77,537.78 - $90,000.00.
