Departmental Overview
Housed within the Division of Student Affairs, the Center for Educational Partnerships (CEP) is the primary department on the UC Berkeley campus charged with developing and implementing programs and strategies to improve academic preparation, expand educational opportunities, and ensure access to higher education for low-income, first generation, and underrepresented students. Working in partnership with local schools and communities, CEP improves academic achievement and expands post-secondary educational opportunities for students who face significant barriers to college.
NAF Future Ready Scholars @ UC Berkeley engages high school students who have demonstrated an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math by providing year-round STEM and college preparation programming. As part of their program experience, students participate in a 3-week summer residential program on the UC Berkeley campus that provides accelerated classes rooted in solving real-world problems and exposure to STEM fields. The academic rigor is alloyed with a strong community experience.

Responsibilities
RESEARCH, ANALYSIS, AND IMPLEMENTATION
Participates in administrative policy and program planning/development. Advises Director on the development of and compliance with policies and procedures and program management.
Researches, plans, and implements a variety of projects, events, and activities, including training sessions, meetings and conferences, and other professional learning opportunities for program staff.
Participates in research of venues for meetings, group travel for events, etc. Maintains relationships with higher education institutions and community entities for the purpose of event planning, facility rentals, etc.
Research current recruitment and hiring trends. Analyze and modify the recruitment process, including advertising, communications, acceptance of applications, coordinating, and interviewing. Lead the development and implementation of the recruitment strategy to obtain, interview, and onboard applications for the temporary/summer staff.
Maintains relationship with HR Partner to understand new protocols and develop the process for onboarding temporary/summer staff. Organize onboarding of temporary/summer staff to ensure and advise their rights and responsibilities, and timely access to UC systems.
Researches, analyzes, and advises on integrating campus and UC policies within the organization, especially as it relates to long and short-term planning for organization, especially around stewardship of funding and expected goals and outcomes.
Primarily deals with K-14 education policies, programs, and proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Plan and implement projects based on fund source requirements, program needs, and campus or system-wide policies or procedures.
Performs subject matter research, analyzes data and information, provides summary analyses, and recommends needed actions and issues for the Director to aid in quality decision-making. Conducts statewide and national demographic research on underserved student academic preparation and graduation.
Identifies potential risks and responds accordingly by identifying and recommending a plan and controls during the year-round administration of the program.
Leads and/or participates in policy and planning committees and working groups. Researches and summarizes best practices in the field.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Provides general support to the Director year-long to ensure the smooth operation of the program, by managing multiple projects such as helping prepare yearly training materials and schedule, summer residential program, arranging for outside experts and speakers, managing the logistics, budgeting, and registration processes for various events sponsored by the unit.
Supports summer residential program logistics that include staying overnight, coordinating the hiring and onboarding of summer/temporary staff, managing and organizing the NAF application, student & parent rosters, managing, collecting, and verifying campus minor liability forms, and securing residential housing for participants of the program.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of constituents, other institutions of higher education, student groups, external community-based organizations, and campus units for the purposes of program operations such as recruiting high-quality candidates for temporary/summer positions.
Coordinate special program projects or events, including research and cost analysis of participant events, transportation, materials, equipment, and supplies, and on-site and off-site storage areas/units.
Coordinates marketing activities that support information dissemination about the program through its website, social media, and other communication vehicles. Maintains online presence and updates paper publications to enhance the program's visibility and promote its impact and program outcomes.
Supports fundraising in collaboration with the Director and completes corresponding tasks that may involve meeting attendance, website development, branding, marketing, and preparing reports.
ADMINISTRATION
Responsible for administering program communication, agendas, meetings, minutes, and follow-up.
Maintain program files, calendar, meeting agendas, and minutes. Responsible for organizing program documents and materials on Berkeley Box.
Provides reports, a calendar of activities, special events, and a full range of information vital to keeping stakeholders informed about the programs.
Provides purchasing, procurement, and reimbursement support. Utilizes and reconciles corporate credit cards to purchase supplies, materials, catering, and technology for trainings, staff events, meetings, and conferences. Procures supplies for the program's school sites, events, and meetings.
Maintains internal budget tracking system and reviews expenditures and general expenses for accuracy and alignment with budget guidelines/restrictions.
Collects, organizes, and prepares data from workshops, 1-on-1 sessions, events, and other information for use in meetings of high-level management, stakeholders, and external constituents for the purpose of reporting to The Center of Educational Partnership, UCOP, and UC Berkeley.
Participates in conferences, workshops, conventions, and meetings with program stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
Solid technology and computer skills with demonstrated experience with database software, website design and maintenance, and office desktop publishing. Demonstrated experience using software including Microsoft Office-Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Box, Google Suite, Slack.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing.
Solid ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes in a variety of settings and to maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
Working skills to analyze information and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of and/or ability to learn college access programming and educational equity issues in K-12 and higher education.

Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Experience with and/or ability to learn CalAnswers, BearBuy, and other administrative software.
Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $65,000.00 - $75,000.00.
This is a 24-month, 100% full-time (40 hours per week), contract position that is eligible for full UC benefits with the possibility of extension.
This position is non-exempt and bi-weekly.
