The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Kansas (KU) invites applicants for a full-time, Assistant/Associate Professor of the Practice and Program Coordinator position in the Higher Education Administration program. The successful candidate will teach master’s and Ed.D. higher education assessment and evaluation courses as well as other courses in the higher education program. Additional course options may include courses such as diversity and equity in higher education, student development theory, introduction to higher education, introduction to student affairs, or higher education law. Candidate will serve as the primary program coordinator for the masters program. We also seek a colleague who can help to develop undergraduate courses for a potential undergraduate minor in higher education. Specific courses taught will be tailored to the skills and interests of the applicant.
Duties:
60% Teaching and Advising:
Teach online, hybrid, or in-person courses each Fall/Spring semester. The teaching load is five courses divided between the fall and spring semesters. The availability of summer teaching varies annually based on enrollment and curricular needs.
Assist in developing and teaching undergraduate courses and/or undergraduate minor.
Serve as the instructor of record for all assigned courses as designated by the Departmental
Develop assignments, evaluate student work, provide feedback to students, and assign grades.
Hold regular office hours for students involved in classes taught. Be available for office hours each week, including reasonable appointments if a student cannot meet during scheduled office hours.
Serve as a member of student Ed.D. dissertation committees.
Adhere to the Department, School, and University policies.
30% Program Coordination
Serve as the primary coordinator for the Higher Education Administration master's (M.S.E) program.
Develop and implement marketing and recruitment strategies and serve as the primary contact person for prospective students.
Assist with curriculum development and assessment.
Advise Higher Education Student Association.
Act as the point of contact for admissions including graduate assistantship selection and placement process, and liaison with assistantship supervisors.
Coordinate program events including orientation and hooding.
10% Service
Provide general service to the program, department, school, university, and discipline.
Regularly participate in program related activities.
Serve as a full voting members of the department faculty except on personnel matters involving tenure-track faculty.
Participate in appropriate professional activities, such as attending faculty meetings, carrying out departmental committee assignments, and attending national and international meetings or conferences.
