The Assistant Director of Sport Clubs position is an integral part of the ongoing functions of the University Recreation Department. Within the Department of University Recreation, it provides a strategic and integrated approach to effectively provide organized activities for a diverse campus community year-round. Student opportunities in areas such as leadership, social and physical wellness and healthy lifetime habits are maximized through participation, various employment positions, internships, and graduate assistantships. He/She will be accountable for contributing to a positive, friendly work environment that encourages, enhances and demonstrates collaboration, teamwork and professionalism among staff, students and patrons on a daily basis. He/she will direct and administer services for students, faculty and staff that create a safe, positive environment and enhance students' educational experiences inside and outside of the classroom.

The Assistant Director of Sport Clubs strongly impacts the area of organizational leadership and student development through the advisement of 40+ student organizations, which pose specialized and complex legal, financial, facility, and organizational needs. The Assistant Director accomplishes these goals through designing, planning, promoting, and evaluating program areas, and through the supervision of 10 – 15 student employees, and the advisement of more than 100 student leaders and 25+ affiliate advisors. Supervision and advisement include conducting weekly individual meetings with clubs, monthly club officer meetings, and attending departmental staff meetings and other student affairs meetings and committees as assigned. In addition, the Assistant Director for Sport Clubs is also responsible for the development and implementation of a summer programming options for the University and Charlotte community, along with other duties as assigned. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of University Recreation.
