UNDERGRADUATE ACADEMIC ASSISTANT, Literature Section, to administer--with minimal supervision--the undergraduate academic program in the Literature section. Will be responsible for coordinating orientation, curriculum planning, MIT Bulletin submissions, class scheduling, and student registration; advising students and faculty on Institute academic policies; serving as the primary contact for temporary lecturers, tutors, and teaching assistants; acting as a liaison to the SHASS Dean's Office and other central academic administration offices across campus; counseling students regarding major/minor/concentration requirements, assisting in tracking student paperwork and petitions, and performing audits to ensure degree requirements are met; coordinating final exams, collecting grades, administering course evaluations, and compiling enrollment statistics; maintaining the rotation of Literature faculty advisors; coordinating curriculum committee activities with regard to curriculum changes and schedules; reviewing and maintaining all section subject syllabi to ensure adherence; planning and coordinating informational class visits, info sessions, and socials/events; representing the section at Institution events; responding to general inquiries regarding the academic program; and performing other duties and special tasks as requested.
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least five years of administrative/office experience; meticulous attention to detail; good judgment with confidential information; excellent proofreading and English spelling and grammar skills; strong computer and technical skills, including with MS Office, Adobe Suite, FileMaker Pro, and Slack; ability and desire to learn and use new programs and applications to streamline work; strong organizational, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communication skills; ability to move weights of 30 pounds.
